Body - Maintenance and repair
1. A condition in which the body of your car, it is very important because this depends largely on its resale value. It is much more difficult to repair the started or damaged body, than mechanical parts. Of body cavities, such as wheel wells, the frame and the engine compartment is at least as important, despite the fact that they do not require frequent attention as the rest of the body.
2. Once a year, or every 20 OOO km, is very useful to clean the underside of the vehicle by means of steam. All traces of dirt and oil will be removed, and after this area can be checked for rust, the damaged brake highways, the worn out electric wires, damaged ropes and so on. At the end of this work the front suspension components must be lubricated.
3. At the same time, clean the engine and engine compartment using steam cleaner or removal tool lubrication.
4. Particular attention should be paid to the wheel wells as the substrate can exfoliate, and the stones and mud ejected wheels can damage the paint and allow to appear rust. If you find rust, smooth out the damaged surface to the metal and apply anti-corrosion paint on it.
5. The body should be washed at least once a week. Thoroughly wet the car to soften the dirt, and then wash it off with a soft sponge and lots of water and soap. If not carefully wash off the dirt, it can erase the paint.
6. The spots of tar or bitumen should be cleaned with a cloth soaked in solvent.
7. At least every six months polish a body and chrome. If you use a cleaner for chrome-plated parts to remove rust from parts plated, remember that the cleaner also deletes honor of chrome so use it carefully.
Vinyl trim - Maintenance and repair
Never clear vinyl furnish with the help of detergents, caustic soap or cleaners on the basis of kerosene. Simple soap and water works just fine and soft brush can easily remove an inveterate dirt. Wash vinyl furnish also often, as well as the entire car.
After cleaning, the use of high-quality protective means for rubber and vinyl surfaces will help prevent oxidation and cracking. The protective agent may also be applied to the sealing glass, vacuum lines and rubber hoses which often fail due to chemical destruction, as well as tires.
Upholstery and carpets - leaving
1. Every three months, remove the floor mats and clean the car inside (if you want to, do it more often). Vacuuming clean upholstery and carpets to remove any remaining dirt and dust.
2. Leather upholstery requires special attention. Stains should be removed with warm water and very mild soap solution. Use a clean cloth to remove the soap and then wipe the upholstery dry-rubbing pkoy. Never use alcohol, gasoline, nail polish remover or thinner to clean the co-zhanoy upholstery.
3. After clearing regularly process a leather upholstery special wax. Never use car wax to polish the leather upholstery.
4. Where the interior of the car is subjected to the action of sunlight and close leather seats sheets if the car is left in the sun for any length of time.
Body Repair - slight damage
Repair of small scratches
1. If you scratch the surface and does not affect me-tal body repair is very simple. Lightly rub the scratched surface fine polishing compound to remove loose paint and wax. Rinse with clean water.
2. Apply the paint to color in the scratch using a small brush. Continue to put
Thin layers of paint until the paint is completely fills the scratch. Give the new paint to dry for at least two weeks, and then mix it with the surrounding paint zapolirovat colored area using a fine polishing composition. Finally, apply a top layer of wax on the scratched surface.
3. If the scratch has penetrated through the paint and damaged the metal body, causing the appearance of rust, you must apply a different repair procedure. Remove rust with base scratch using a pocket knife, and then apply a corrosion paint to prevent rust in the future. Using a rubber or nylon applicator, cover the scratched area of glaze (glaze - a translucent paint layer). Before the glaze in a scratch hardens, place a piece of plain cotton cloth around the tip of your finger. Dip the cloth in a diluent, and then quickly spend it around the surface scratches. This will help you make sure that the surface of the glaze is slightly sunken. Now it is possible to paint a scratch, as was described earlier in this section.

Attention!
If necessary, the glaze can be mixed with a diluent to prepare very thin putty, which is ideal for filling of narrow scratches.

Repairs dents
4. During the repair of dents the first thing to do is to straighten out the dent that the damaged place was as close as possible to its original shape. It makes no sense to try to fully restore the original form, as the metal in the damaged place is stretched and can not be restored to its original contour. Better align the dent so that the level is approximately 3 mm below the surrounding metal.
5. If the dent is very small, there is no sense to equalize it.

Attention!
Firmly hold the wooden block on the reverse side of the metal to absorb the blows of a hammer and prevent stretching of the metal.

6. If there is a dent in a part of a body, which has a double layer, or else making it impossible to access from the inside, it is necessary to use a different procedure. Drill several small holes in the metal in the damaged surface, preferably in the deepest parts. Screw long, self-tapping screws through the holes so that they enter into engagement with the durable metal. Now you can straighten dent pulling on the protruding screw heads with pliers.
7. The next step is the removal of the paint repair a damaged surface and from surrounding metal by about 2.5 cm. This is done using a wire brush or a grinding disk, put on a drill, but no less effective it can be done manually with sandpaper . In order to complete preparations for filling, smooth out a file with a screwdriver or a bare metal surface, or drill small holes in the damaged area. This will provide a good grip and metal glaze. In order to complete the repair. See subsection on filling and painting later in this chapter.
Fixing holes from rust or cracks
8. Remove all paint from the damaged surface and surrounding metal in radius of about 2.5 cm, using sandpaper or a wire brush, put on a drill. If they are not available, this job can be done manually using multiple sheets of sandpaper.
9. After removing the paint, you can determine the extent of corrosion and decide whether to replace the entire board, or if it is possible to repair the damaged area. New body panels are not so expensive as many people think, and very often much faster to set a new panel than to repair large surface damaged by rust.
10. Remove all parts of decorative trim from the damaged area, except those that act as a guide of the original form of the damaged body of a vehicle such as the lamp housing, and so on. Using metal shears or a hacksaw blade, remove all damaged metal, and any other metal on which there are traces of rust. A hammer bend aperture edges inside to create a small groove for the filler material.
11. A wire brush smooth out the damaged surface to remove powdery rust from metal surfaces. If you have access to the back of a rusty surface, cover it with anticorrosive paint.
12. Before the final sealing of zakuporte any way opening. This can be done with the help of gravity, riveted or screwed into the hole, or insert into the hole with wire mesh.
13. When the hole is plugged, the damaged area can be filled and painted over. See. The following section for filling and painting.
Filling and painting
14. Currently, there are a large number of fillers for body repair, but to be honest, a set of parts for repair of the body, which has a filling paste, and a tube of hardener of polymers is best suited for repairs. You will need a flexible plastic or nylon applicator surface leveling putty. Mix a small amount of the mixture filler on a clean wooden board or cardboard (economically spending a hardener). Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, or putty harden properly.
15. Using the applicator, apply the paste on the filling prepared surface. Spend on the applicator surface of the filler to achieve the same .laemogo-circuit and equalize the surface putty. When the initial level will be reached and the loop, stop with the paste. If you continue, the paste will stick to the applicator. Continue to put thin layers of pasta with 20-minute intervals, until the level of filler will not exactly match the level of the surrounding metal.
16. When the putty has hardened its excess can be removed with a file. Next, you need to use sandpaper, gradually increasing its granularity, starting with a paper with an indicator of granularity of 180 units and finished with waterproof paper with an indicator of granularity of 600 units. Always wrap the sandpaper on a block of wood or rubber, or filler surface is completely flat. During grinding the surface putty waterproof sandpaper with an indicator of granularity of 600 units is necessary to periodically moisten with water. This helps achieve a very smooth surface.
17. Now the repair area should be surrounded by a ring of bare metal, which in turn should be surrounded by a good facet intact. Rinse with water until the repair area until all the dust remaining after polishing, will not be deleted.
18. On the whole surface of the stripped pound apply a thin layer of the coating. This will help detect any defects on the surface of fillings. Correct defects found using fresh fillings or las-focusing and once again smooth out the surface with sandpaper. Repeat the procedure for applying the primer and filler until the pack you will not be satisfied with the surface of the edge of the putty and paint. Rinse with clean water and let it dry completely.
1E. Now the repair area is ready for painting. Spray painting must be carried out under warm, dry, windless weather, when the air is not dust. These conditions can be achieved if you have access to a large production facility. However, if you have to work outdoors, choose the day of painting must be very careful. If you work indoors, sprinkle water pop. This will help you nail down the dust that might otherwise take to the air. If the repair area is on one panel of a body, close all surrounding panels. This will help you minimize the small difference in the color of paint. Decorative trim parts such as chrome trim, door handles, and so on, also need to remove or disguise. To use the masking tape and several layers of paper.
20. Before spraying shake the paint thoroughly, and then be trained to spray it to learn to do it right. Apply a thick coat of primer to the repaired surface. It is better to apply several thin coats than one thick. Using sandpaper grit 600 units we clean the surface of the primer as long until it becomes very smooth. During this operation, the treated surface must be carefully moistened with water. Sandpaper is also necessary periodically lowered into the water. Allow the primer to dry before applying additional coats.
21. Spray paint on top sing, increasing its thickness by applying several layers. Begin spraying paint from the center of the area to be repaired, and then, using a circular motion, treat the entire repair area, as well as about 5 cm surrounding paint. Remove all masking material in 10-15 minutes after the last coat of paint. Give the new paint to dry for at least two weeks, and then use a very fine grinding structure make imperceptible transition from new paint to the original. At the completion of the work, apply a coat of wax.
Body Repair - significant damage
1. Significant damage to the body needs to be repaired at service stations, which has equipment for body repair.
2. If there are extensive damage, it is necessary to check the geometry of the body. They also can affect the characteristics of driving or lead to what other components will wear faster.

3. Due to the fact that all the major components of a body (bonnet, wings, etc.) are separate elements that can be replaced, the best result their replacement rather than repair. Sometimes demanded details can be found in stores for the sale of second-hand spare parts that is much cheaper than buying new ones.
