The accelerator cable

Removal and installation of the accelerator cable in the following order:
- Remove the lower trim panel on the driver to access the cable fixing accelerator pedal;
- Pushing through a rubber grommet, disconnect the cable of an accelerator pedal;
- Open the bonnet;

Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle
Fig. 5.17. Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle: 1 - accelerator cable; 2 - control cable and a U-shaped bracket; 3 - cable cover

- After removing the clamp, disconnect the cable 1 (fig. 5.17) on the accelerator throttle;
- Pull the cable cover 3 upwards and remove it from the holder. The U-shaped bracket 2 to the holder adjusts the position of the cable, and if necessary to remove the U-shaped bracket, measure the installation position of the cable, which is required to adjust the cable during installation;
- Mark the location of the cable and pull it through the partition, and remove from the engine compartment.
Installation is performed in reverse order of removal. Check that the throttle is opened and closed completely and move freely.
If the adjustment of the accelerator cable is required for vehicles with manual transmission, spend it as follows:

Adjusting accelerator cable on vehicles with manual transmission
Fig. 5.21. Adjusting accelerator cable on vehicles with manual gearbox: 1 - move the sleeve in the direction of the arrow; 2 - mounting bracket

- Bracket 2 (see. Fig. 5.21), adjust the cable must be installed so that the throttle was fully open at all the way down the accelerator pedal;

Adjusting accelerator cable SOCH on engines with manual transmission
Fig. 5.18. Adjusting accelerator cable SOCH on engines with manual transmission

Adjusting accelerator cable DOCH on engines with manual transmission
Fig. 5.19. Adjusting accelerator cable DOCH on engines with manual transmission

- When the accelerator pedal is fully released internal clearance of a cable should not exceed 1.0 mm (Fig. 5.18, 5.19).
If the adjustment of a cable of an accelerator is carried out on vehicles with automatic transmission, spend it as follows:

Adjusting accelerator cable on vehicles with manual transmission
Fig. 5:20. Adjusting accelerator cable on vehicles with manual gearbox: 1 - bar; 2 - pedal; 3 - stop; a = 15 mm

- Insert a block 1 (Fig. 5.20) with a thickness of 15 mm between the accelerator pedal 2 and 3 stop and secure the pedal in this position;
- At the end of the accelerator cable, from the throttle cable, remove the sleeve in order to fully open the throttle, and then lock it in place by inserting the mounting bracket;
- Release the accelerator pedal and remove the bar;

Check the operation of the downshift (kick-down)
Fig. 5.22. Check the operation of the downshift (kick-down)

- Check the operation of the mechanism of inclusion downshift (kick-down), by connecting the ohmmeter terminals to the mechanism (Fig. 5.22). When the accelerator pedal is fully released, the resistance should be equal to infinity;
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to lower the pressure points (not to stop), the resistance should be zero.
