Check generator



Checks are made in the following order:
- Check and, if necessary, adjust the tension of the alternator drive belt;
- Connect a voltmeter to the battery terminals;
- Observing the voltmeter, start up the engine. In operation, the starter voltage may fall to 9;
- Increase the engine speed to 4000 min-1, the voltage must increase to 13,7-14,6 V, which indicates normal operation of the generator and the voltage regulator;
- At an engine speed of 4000 min-1 switch on high beam headlights or other high consumers of electricity, with the voltage drop should not exceed 0.4 V;
- In the case of large voltage deviations when checking the check generator in a specialized workshop.

Removing the generator
Removal in the following order:
- Disconnect "minus" wire from the battery terminals;

- Loosen the bolt of the generator to the bracket and screws 4 (Fig. 15.1) or 3 (Fig. 15.2), adjusting the belt tension, and then turn the generator to the engine;
- Remove the belt 12 (see. Fig. 15.1) or 8 (see. Fig. 15.2) from the pulley 11 (see. Fig. 15.1) or 7 (see. Fig. 15.2) generator;

- Mark the location of electrical wires on the back of the generator, and then disconnect them from the generator (Fig. 15.3);
- Remove the bolt of the generator to the bracket and adjust the belt tension bolt and remove the generator;
- Unscrew and remove the mounting bracket 8 (see. Fig. 15.1), or 4 (see. Fig. 15.2).

Repair of the generator Bosch
In the process of repair of the generator, remember:
- That the diodes placed in the generator, are sensitive to high temperatures. If necessary, replace them in the process of soldering should hold their conclusions with metallic tweezers, which removes heat from the soldering tip, and to restrict to the minimum required soldering time:
- Do not use an ungrounded electric soldering iron, as in the case of damage to its isolation it will cause the breakdown of the generator rectifier diodes;
- In control samples the generator voltage should not exceed 14V;
- The verification process of rectifying diodes, can be used DC voltage up to 24 V;
- To clean the parts, use only gasoline. Immediately after cleaning the parts (especially windings) dry them using compressed air.
Dismantling in the following order:
- Unscrew the nut 1 (see. Fig. 15.3) of the rotor shaft, remove the pulley shaft 3, the impeller 6 and the spacer. When loosening the nut hold the pulley from rotating by setting the Allen wrench into the end of the shaft;
- Remove the shaft woodruff key 13;
- Unscrew the screws 23 and remove the voltage regulator with the brushes 22;
- Check the relative position of the housing 21 and the front cover of the generator 9, 7 unscrew and remove the front cover of the generator with the rotor 14. When removing the front cover, it is possible to bring down the hammer with plastic brisk;

- Using a puller with three claws, squeeze the rotor of the front cover. When squeezing the rotor possible pulling screws plate holder bearing stripper captures therefore necessary to establish under the plate holder (see. Fig. 15.5);
- Removing the screws, remove the plate holder, and squeeze out the bearing;
- Using a puller, remove bearing 15 (see. Fig. 15.3) from the slip rings of the rotor. Hooks stripper set on the inner ring of the bearing;
- Disconnect the unit from the stator 16, diodes 18, previously sealed-off wire;
- Check the condition of the windings and slip rings of the rotor.
The assembly of the generator made in sequence, return dismantling.
