The basic malfunctions of the generator and their solutions

When checking the generator, as well as the operation of the vehicle is necessary to observe some simple rules that do not derive from the generator system:
- Do not operate the generator with the battery disconnected;
- Do not check the generator on a "spark", as this proceeds through the diodes significant current and they fail;
- Do not check diodes pressure more than 12 or Megger;
- During the electric welding disconnect the wires from the generator and battery.
Check for damaged parts and electrical circuits and troubleshoot the engine stopped and the battery disconnected.
If the ignition is not illuminated warning lamp battery charging, the probable cause as follows:
- Broken wire between the generator, ignition switch and control lamp - test voltage is removed along the chain, from the generator;
- Discharged battery - check the voltage and, if necessary, recharge the battery;
- The bulb burned out - replace it;
- Brush generator not flush against the contact rings - check the length of the brushes and their freedom of movement in the holder;
- Burned winding of the generator - Check the operation of the rotor and the diodes and detection of defects replace the damaged parts.
If the warning light does not go out charging with increasing engine speed, the probable cause as follows:
- Faulty pressure regulator - replace it with a new one;
- Wire between the generator and the control lamp is in contact with the "masses" - replace the wiring harness or additionally insulate wire.
