Countershaft



Removal of the intermediate shaft is performed in the following sequence:
- Remove the engine from the vehicle;
- Remove the ignition distributor (engines SOHC);
- Remove the timing belt (see. Sect. 3.1.4);

- Remove the protective plate 7 (see. Fig. 3.2);
- Unscrew and remove the mounting bracket of the generator;
- Unscrew the bolt intermediate shaft sprocket, keeping a pulley from turning a special device;
- Remove the sprocket and key intermediate shaft pulley;

-otvernite Screws 8 (Fig. 3.27) and remove the cover 10 of the intermediate shaft 12 with a sealing ring 11;
- Remove the oil seal 9, the intermediate shaft 12;
- Remove the intermediate shaft 12;
- Clean the intermediate shaft and inspect it. If damaged it must be replaced.
Installation countershaft in the following sequence:
- Lubricate the neck of the intermediate shaft 12 and carefully slide the shaft into the cylinder block 17;
- Grease working edges of a new epiploon of an intermediate shaft 9 and insert the gasket in the lid 10 of the intermediate shaft careful hammer blows on the mandrel;
- Install new O-ring 11 on the cover 10;
- Replace the cover 10 to the cylinder block and tighten screws 8;
- Check the axial play of the intermediate shaft with a dial indicator.
The remaining operations follow in sequence, return to removal.
