Replacing the hydraulic fluid assisted steering

The liquid level in the mechanism of steering wheel position is checked when set to the "straight ahead" and the engine is running.
Make sure that the liquid level in the tank between labels "MAX" and ?Min?. If necessary, bring the liquid level to normal.
On vehicles manufactured prior to February 1989, in the power steering fluid used ATF. On later models used hydraulic oil. When refueling system is desirable to use the same fluid or oil, which were filled in already.
Replace in the following order:
- Disconnect the suction hose to the pump and drain the liquid in the container;
- When discharging liquid, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, to remove as much of the liquid;
- After draining liquid reconnect the suction hose to the pump, then fill the tank to the top of the new liquid;
- Several times, start and stop the engine, which will soon fill the system;
- Check the fluid level and continue to add liquid decreasing the level in the reservoir;
- When the liquid level is stabilized, start up the engine and let it run at idle speed;
- Turn the steering wheel several times from stop to stop, leaving the steering wheel in extreme position, so as not to create the maximum pressure in the system;
- Check the fluid level in the reservoir and, if necessary, add fluid to the reservoir up to the mark "MAX";
- After the stabilization of the liquid level in the tank and in the absence of air bubbles in the liquid, turn the engine off and set the lid on the tank.
After stopping the engine liquid level should rise slightly.
