Replacing the rear wheel hub bearing

Bearings of hub 11 and 14, the rear wheels are mounted in the rear brake drum / hub or rear brakes / hub (Fig. 10.18 or 12.17).

Replace in the following order:
- Hang out and fix on support struts rear of the vehicle;
- Remove the rear wheel and release the hand brake;

- Using tool VW637 / 2 or a screwdriver, remove the cover from the central part of the brake drum or disc (Fig. 10.19);
- Remove the locking pin and remove the locking ring;
- Unscrew the nut and remove thrust washer;
- Rear brake drum rotate the brake drum so that holes for wheel bolts arranged at an angle of 45 ?� from a vertical plane;
- Release the brake pads, which insert a screwdriver through the front top hole for the wheel bolts and move up the wedge;
- On the disc rear brakes and remove the brake caliper, using a soft wire, suspend it to the rack;
- Remove the brake drum or disc. If necessary, use a universal stripper;
- Clean the inside of the bearing and sealing ring;
- Remove the hub bearing inner ring;
- Copper knockout knock out from the hub outer ring of the bearing. To avoid skewing the bearing mount a drift evenly in a circle;
- Clean the bearing seats in the hub and pin;

- Using tool VW-432 press in the outer ring of the bearing in the brake drum or brake disk (Fig. 10.20). In the absence of tools press in the outer rings of bearings, using tubular mandrel;
- Put in the cavity of the inner bearing with lithium grease and install it on a pin;
- Lubricate the working edges of a new sealing ring and place it into the hub;
- Fill the hub with lithium grease and place on a pin;
- Establish the external bearing and thrust washer, and then tighten the nut on the hub by hand;
- Turn the hub bearings for installation;

- Tighten the nut until it touches the washer. Bearing play is adjusted correctly if the thrust washer can move the blade screwdriver in different directions (Fig. 10.21);
- Install locking ring and insert a new pin;
- Fill cover the central part of the hub with grease and replace the cover;

A WARNING
To avoid contact with the water bearing cap should not be crushed or deformed.

- Further installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
