Removing and installing wheel drive shaft

Warnings
After unscrewing the hexagon nut 12 can not allow the mass of the car fell to the wheels, this may damage the wheel bearings. However, when installing the car on the stand is necessary to weaken the tension nuts (nuts). Thus, the vehicle should be set on solid supports. The drive shaft must be removed only when the car after dismantling do not have to move.

When removing the need to perform the following operations:
- Fit the front part of the car on reliable support, so that was unloaded Front Axle;
- Unscrew the hexagon nut 12;
- Disconnect the panel from the control arm;

Sliding pliers

- Unscrew the bolts of the flanges drive shaft on the gearbox. Use of this multi-faceted face head diameter of 8 mm, which looks just like a socket wrench, but has 12 facets instead of 6;
- Disconnect drive shaft from the gearbox and raise it above the gearbox. If you disconnect the shaft is not immediately possible, it is necessary to shake it from side to side;

The marking of installation sites before unscrewing the bolts (arrows)
Fig. 218. The marking of installation sites before unscrewing the bolts (arrows)

- Paint or a marker to note the installation position of bolts indicated in Fig. 218 and unscrew the bolts indicated by arrows. When installing bolts should return to their former places;
- If you want to remove and right drive shaft, it is necessary (during installation of the catalyst) to turn on the flat retainer mounting lambda sensor;

Pulling out wheel drive shaft from the hub using tool
Fig. 219. Pulling out wheel drive shaft from the hub using tool

- Are now using the tool extrude axle from the wheel hub. It is screwed as shown in Fig. 219. When tightening the middle screw shaft is pushed through the wheel hub. Helper should observe the inner side to prevent the shaft pin with the other parts of the vehicle;
- Pull the axis on the inner side of the wheel hub.
Keep in mind that the performance of the drive shafts from the different parties are not the same. On the left side is shorter and the solid shaft. Longer shaft is made of the right pipe. Installation shafts carried out in sequence, return to removal, taking into account the following:
- When installing a new shaft must be thoroughly cleaned slots and thread from traces of paint. Older trees cleaned of rust. Apply grease to splines;
- A drive shaft inserted into the wheel hub, pushing it through the hub as far as possible to the threaded end came out;
- Screw at the end of the shaft 12 new self hexagon nut and tighten it to make the outer joint into the wheel hub;
- To establish joint, centering in accordance with the applied marking three bolts (see. Fig. 218) and tighten to 35 Nm;
- To fix the drive shaft flange bolts on the output shaft of the transmission. The bolts are tightened with a special wrench face head to 45 Nm;
- Plate bolted to the suspension arm. If you want to install a flat retainer mounting wire lambda sensor and secure wire (only for the right shaft);
- After setting the wheels the car can be lowered to the ground again, to finally tighten the hexagon nut 12. Tightening torque 50 N ? m + 30 ?, but it is achieved in two stages:
- Wrap the 12-sided nut torque of 200 Nm, then loosen one turn;
- Tighten the nut to a torque of 50 Nm;

Tightening the hexagon nut 12 of the drive shaft with the application of labels A and B
Fig. 220. Tightening the hexagon nut 12 of the drive shaft with the application of labels A and B

- Noted a top-12 hex nut, for example, paint or marker, mark A (Fig. 220) and put a second mark on the edge in the wheel above the top of the next 12 hexagon nuts. Labels should be placed at an angle of 30 ?;
- Tighten the nut to align both marks.
The shaft is securely tightened. Since Self-nut, PUNCHING not required. Tighten the wheel bolts.
