On the reverse side of the brake shields fitted plugs, after the removal of which you can check the thickness of the brake linings. Fig. 298 shows where the inspection hole. Shine a flashlight into it. If the thickness is decreased as a result of lining wear to about 2.5 mm, the pads must be replaced in the kit, on both wheels. To replace the pads, proceed as follows: - Lift the rear of the car and set it on supports; - Substitute Chock the rear wheels; - Return to the starting position adjusting mechanism, as otherwise the brake pads can get stuck in the drum. For this purpose it is necessary to insert back into the drum through one of the threaded holes screwdriver, find the control wedge mechanism and push it up. The mechanism is to the left on the upper side of the drum (Fig. 299);

- To remove the hub cap, carefully hooking a screwdriver or using a special tool, as shown in Fig. 285;
| Fig. 285. Removing the cover of the hub. By using such tools ensure that the cover is not damaged
- Remove the brake drum. If it jams up again to press the control wedge, as shown in Fig. 299;

- Press the finger from the reverse side onto the pins holding the brake pads, pliers seize the spring plate on the outer side pads (the top arrow in Fig. 301), and press it inwardly to expand until the head of the pin will not be possible to carry through the spring. Remove the spring plate, a spring and a pin. Perform this work on both stocks; - Tackle one block up on the bottom side and remove it from the support. Unhook the hook liberated the bottom of the return spring; - Open the two brake pads down, as shown in Fig. 302, and disconnect the parking brake cable from the pad;

- Clamp the brake pads in a vice as shown in Fig. 303, and a pair of pliers to unhook from the clamping spring regulating wedge and upper return spring. To remove a block by removing one side of the expander bar; - Expanding raise the bar to a position where its spring released, and it will be possible to unhook and remove completely. Also, remove the control wedge to remember how it was set; - Thoroughly clean all parts. Especially check the condition of rubber boots brake cylinders. When leaks fluid cylinders should be repaired or replaced;

- Clamp the pads as shown in Fig. 304, in a vise, install tension spring and paste Expanding the bar to block. Both operations are carried out simultaneously. To do this, stretch the spring, until it is fixed;
