Replacement of the external hinge of equal angular speeds



As well as internal and external constant velocity joints can be replaced only in gathering.
To remove the external constant-velocity joint, proceed as follows;
- Remove the clamps on both ends of the cover (cutting them) and squeeze the cover from the hinge by moving it along the shaft;
- Clean the inside of the hinge and lock the snap ring on the inner side of the hinge;

- Clamp the shaft in a vise with jaws of aluminum and bring down the hinge shaft with aluminum or copper hammer. Fig. 224 shows how to bring down the hinge from a shaft;
- Off the shaft mounted thereon adjuster 11 (see. Fig. 221) and spring washers 10. Pay attention to how the installed spring washer 10.
To install an external constant-velocity joint, proceed as follows:
- Install the shaft rubber cover and move it along the shaft;

- Before installing the lay of 45 g of grease on each side of the hinge. Set on the spring shaft 10 and then the adjusting washers 11. Fig. 225 shows a hinge assembled with installed both parts;

- To establish a new shaft snap ring 12 (Fig. 221), hold the shaft in a vise and fit hinge on a shaft, using copper or aluminum mallet until the retaining ring securely enters the groove on the inside of the hinge;

- Set on the hinge cover and fix it with clamps (see. Sect. 9.3). Before you fix the cover, it is necessary to gently squeeze to release the air contained therein. If the assembly will be found dents, as shown in Fig. 226, then again weaken a collar of small diameter and carefully lift the edge of a small screwdriver so that the air pressure inside and got the equalizer.
