Setting the timing

Places labeling circuit timing (indicated by arrows)
Fig. 92. Designated marking timing chains (indicated by arrows)

If the cylinder head is removed, the timing chain drive are labeled (see. Fig. 92) and none of the camshaft not been rotated, in this case it is possible to install the sprocket and chain.
If the cylinder head removed, it is necessary to accurately adjust the timing drive before installing the head. Crankshaft in any case can not scroll if the chain does not put an asterisk on the camshaft and crankshaft, as in this case, the pistons hit the valves. For this reason it is necessary to expose the first cylinder to TDC. Because the engine has six cylinders, the first cylinder only every fourth turnover is at TDC.
In the description of the installation we believe that all the elements of the valve timing taken as if the assembly is carried out after the complete disassembly of the engine. To install the valve timing, do the following:
- Rotate the crankshaft of the engine so that the piston of the first cylinder in the position TDC. To do this on the removed engine cranked shaft by means of rotation of the flywheel, and the installed engine and remove the cylinder head into gear and turn the front wheel hub. You can also temporarily screw the damper to crank. As already mentioned, it can take up to four revolutions, before the first cylinder will be in the TDC position;

Elements of the valve timing
Fig. 91. Elements of the valve timing: 1 - an intermediate shaft; 2 - leading ring; 3 - bolt 10 Nm; 4 - wheel drive sensor; 5 - bolt 10 Nm; 6 - bolt 25 Nm; 7 - an elastic element tensioning devices; 8 - two-row chain tensioner, 20 Nm; 9 - Double-row chain; 10 - two-lane drive sprocket chain; 11 - single-row chain drive sprocket; 12 - chain tensioner shoe; 13 - sprocket chain drive built into the crankshaft; 14 - Single-row chain; 15 - Strap pacifier; 16 - Special bolt 25 Nm; 17 - finger with collar, 25 Nm; 18 - damper; 19 - bolt 20 Nm; 20 - Stars crankshafts

Alignment marks both chains and sprockets
Fig. 94. The alignment marks of both chains and sprockets: A - lock chain tensioner; B - adjusting tooth sprocket; C - Adjusting the label intermediate shaft sprocket

- Put on the bottom-row chain valve timing on a star 13 (see. Fig. 91) of the crankshaft. To do this, check that the adjusting tooth B (Fig. 94) on the crankshaft sprocket is really right. B tooth - one of the teeth of the sprocket of the crankshaft which is ground, and it must be located in line with a joint main bearing cap ?1, if the first cylinder is at TDC;

Adjusting the label intermediate shaft sprocket
Fig. 95. Adjusting the label intermediate shaft sprocket

- Set sprocket 11 (see. Fig. 91), single-row drive chain of the intermediate shaft such that adjusting the sprocket notch with an intermediate shaft standing opposite the mark on the driving ring 2 (see. Fig. 91). Put a star on the intermediate shaft lower-row chain (Fig. 95);
- If the old chain is established, then installing it, observe the direction of the previously marked (see. Fig. 92);
- Put a small sprocket 10 (see. Fig. 91) on the intermediate shaft, and fixing the intermediate shaft stationary, tighten the bolt with a torque of 100 Nm;
- Set the chain tensioner 12 (see. Fig. 91), single-row chain. Tighten bolts and fingers;
- Once again check whether the adjustment notch with a large asterisk of an intermediate shaft opposite the mark on the ring;
- Install the cylinder head and crank both camshafts so that cam valve of the first cylinder were sent round down (ie, arranged as they should be positioned at TDC);

3268 Device for aligning the camshafts
Fig. 96. The device 3268 for aligning the camshafts

- Replace the cylinder head device 3268 (Fig. 96) to align the camshaft;

Installation of the piston of the first cylinder to TDC
Fig. 97. Installation of the piston of the first cylinder to TDC

- Check that the piston of the first cylinder is in TDC position (groove on a pulley belt drive must match the mark) (Fig. 97);
- Put the two sprockets 20 (see. Fig. 91) on the camshafts, and then slide the duplex roller chain;
- If the old chain is installed, installing it, observe the direction of the previously marked (see. Fig. 92);

Components of the camshafts with the bearing caps and stars
Fig. 31. Components of the camshafts with the bearing caps and asterisks: 1 - a cover of the bearing of the camshaft; 2 - nut 20 Nm; 3 - camshafts; 4 - the camshaft sprocket; 5 - the drive mechanism of the Hall sensor; 6 - bolts 100 Nm

- One of the camshaft drive mechanism 5 set (see. Fig. 31) Hall sensor;
- Tighten the two bolts of asterisks on camshafts;
- Holding the camshafts in a stationary state by means of a spanner "24 mm", worn by a hexagon, tighten both bolts stars torque of 100 Nm. After tightening, check again that all adjusting labels are positioned correctly;

The hydraulic chain tensioner
Fig. 98. The hydraulic chain tensioner: A - a weakening of the tension device

- Set the chain tensioner. Located in the chain tensioner piston has a locking device that prevents the piston to move back. Before installing chain tensioner, insert a screwdriver into the slot A (Fig. 98) and rotate the plunger to unblock it. At the same time tighten the chain tensioner arm. Install a chain tensioner and tighten the bolts with a torque of 10 Nm;
- Screw the chain tensioner bolt 8 (see. Fig. 91) in the cylinder head and tighten torque of 20 Nm. He will pull double-row roller chain with a prescribed force, ie after it is not necessary to carry out any further work on adjusting the chain tension;
- Double-check that the drive is installed and the timing is correctly adjusted the engine and close the front.
All subsequent operations are carried out in sequence, return dismantling.
