Replacing the engine oil

Engine oil is supplied to all the rubbing parts of the engine during its operation, thereby reducing the power loss due to friction between the parts and reduces wear of the friction surfaces. In addition, the oil passing between the rubbing parts of the engine, cools it and blows products wear. For continuous operation of the engine oil is gradually contaminated by metal particles, soot and dust that penetrates into the crankcase, diluted, so it must be replaced.
In the instruction manual you can learn when to replace the engine oil. The basic rule is that the oil should be changed at least once every six months. It should also change the oil filter, but at least once a year.
Engine oil change procedure is as follows:
- Warm up the engine;

Installation of the front wheels of the car on a special stand

- Park the vehicle on the rack, lift viewing ditch or the front wheels on a special stand (Fig. 179);
- Stop the engine and apply the parking brake;

A warning
When working under the vehicle, never leave the car just raised the automotive jack, hedge dummy legs, etc.

A warning
In no case do not abut the jack to lift the car into the oil pan, transmission, auxiliary frame or the rear axle.

- Remove the shield protect the crankcase;
- Place the container for the collection of waste oil under the oil drain plug;

Elements on the side of the 2.0-liter engine: 1 - oil filler cap; 2 - O-ring; 3 - dipstick; 4 - the dipstick guide tube; 5 - O-shaped sealing ring; 6 - the oil pressure switch to 25 kPa; 7 - oil pressure switch 180 kPa; 8 - plug or temperature switch; 9 - bolt 25 Nm; 10 - the base of the oil filter; 11 - a lining; 12 - O-shaped sealing ring; 13 - oil cooler; 14 - nut 25 Nm; 15 - Oil filter

- Remove the screw drain plug in the sump and drain the used oil into a container;

Note
To completely drain the used oil, it is necessary to wait some time. Opening the filler cap 1 (Fig. 180) or pull out the dipstick 3, you can accelerate the process of draining the old oil.

A warning
Hot engine oil can cause burns. It is recommended to drain the old oil while it is still warm, but do not do it when the engine is hot.

Note
Dispose of the old engine oil must be in compliance with environmental regulations.

- Thoroughly clean the drain plug and check the O-ring;

- After the old oil completely merged, tighten the drain plug and tighten it to a torque of 30 Nm;
- Perform rapid analysis of fusion engine oil:
- If between the thumb and index finger, the friction, felt the presence of grains or particles of metal in the drain oil is likely to damage the bearings;
- A drop of water or a yellowish oil leaks indicate cylinder head gasket;
- Very dark color of the oil indicates that oil is to be replaced;
- Pour meets the requirements of the new engine oil to the required level in accordance with the indications of the dipstick. Pour the oil slowly should periodically check the level, but it should always wait for some time to allow the oil to drain into the oil pan;
- Tighten the oil filler cap and run the engine for a few minutes. This will distribute the oil in the engine (filled with filter);
- Stop the engine and wait for a while to allow the oil to drain into the oil pan;
- Check the oil level dipstick. You may need to add some oil because they fill the oil filter.
