Details of the timing shown in Fig. 414. In order to get to the details of the valve timing, you need to remove the V-belt power steering pump and alternator drive belt ribbed. The work described in the relevant section.
The camshaft is driven by a toothed belt that runs through pulleys located on the switch and crank shafts and injection pump. The intermediate shaft is driven pulley without gearing.
Once again I draw your attention to the fact that when working with a timing mechanism is necessary to have a special tool, for example, to adjust the drive pump and camshaft, without which no adjustment should be made. Since the work of the valves depends on the correct adjustment of the camshaft drive, then an improper adjustment of the camshaft drive can be very expensive. Always remember that the belt can jump on one tooth and it can cause serious damage to the engine, the valves are opened and closed at the wrong time, causing serious damage to the pistons. For this reason it is necessary to change the timing belt every 100 000 km, as to break the drive may cause similar damage.
To adjust the tension of the timing belt also requires a special tool. If necessary, you can also adjust the belt tension on the eye, but we recommend you after such adjustment at the first opportunity to check the belt tension at the station. Check belt does not take much time.
The following work should be performed only if you are available the appropriate special tool. Otherwise, you should contact the service station.
Provided that the belt is not damaged, it has a lifespan of up to 100 000 km.
The belt tension is regulated by established idler pulley with the adjusting cam.
