Details of connecting rod and piston shown in Fig. 421. The cross section of the piston of the diesel TDI engine is shown in Fig. 420. The shape of the combustion chamber such as ?�Omega?� (bucket). To remove the pistons must be removed and the engine cylinder head.

After removal of the cylinder head pistons look as shown in Fig. 422. Each piston has a larger recess for the intake valve, however, they are all on one side. Grooves on the piston cylinders number 1 and 2 are located closer to the side of the flywheel, the deepening of the cylinder number on the pistons 3 and 4 - close to the side of the pulley. For this reason, new pistons are coated on their labels 1/2 or 3/4, so you know in which the cylinders may be installed. If you want to remove the pistons, before this should mark their position, causing them numbers of cylinders. Improper installation of the piston can lead to engine damage.
