Repair of the oil pump

Kind of the disassembled oil sump and the oil pump
Fig. 452. View of the oil sump and disassembled oil pump 1 - the guide plate; 2 - oil receiving pipe; 3 - a bolt of oil receiving pipe 10 Nm; 4 - a sealing ring 10 Nm; 5 - the case of the oil pump; 6 - gear oil pump; 7 - the oil pump cover with pressure relief valve; 8 - short screw cap 10 Nm; 9 - long bolt cap to 25 N ? m; 10 - oil sump; 11 - a sealing ring (always replace a new); 12 - drain plug, 30 Nm; 13 - oil pan bolt, 25 Nm

When disassembling the oil pump should be guided by Fig. 452.
Remove the cover from the pump two short bolts.
Remove the cover with the oil receiving pipe.
Remove from the gear pump housing with shaft and gearwheel without shaft. It can be removed and the drive shaft.
Remove the two screws mesh oil receiving pipes with the pump cover and remove the O-ring located in the center of the pipe. Clean all parts before starting to check their condition.
Check the oil pump housing for deformation. If the location of the bearings are worn out, then replace the oil pump, since this leads to a loss of pressure.

Measurement of the radial clearance in the oil pump
Fig. 454. The measurement of radial clearance in oil pump

Check the wear of gears, by inserting the probe between the teeth (Fig. 454) and measure the radial clearance. Permissible gap 0.05 - 0.20 mm. If the clearance exceeds the allowable, replace the gears and, if necessary, the entire pump.

Measuring the axial clearance in the oil pump
Fig. 455. Measuring the axial clearance in the oil pump

- Probe and a steel ruler or area measure axial clearance of the oil pump (Fig. 455). Allowable axial backlash of 0,06-0,15 mm.
Check is firmly seated in the pump housing pinion shaft. If it is loose, replace the pump casing.
If you find a damaged or worn teeth, replace the gears in pairs. Typically, signs of wear on the lateral surface of the teeth look like polished shiny surface.
When assembling the oil pump, make sure that the surfaces of the pump are completely clean. Before assembly, lubricate all of the oil. Pay special attention to grease the gears, so they did not get a teaser and damage when you first start the engine. Before installing the pump, make sure that the gear wheels rotate easily without binding.
When you first start the engine or operate it immediately at high speed to well run-in oil pump.
