Removing and installing front propeller shaft

Work on the front propeller shaft should be carried out on double-seat lift with a platform.
Before removing the position of all parts in relation to each other tick. The assembly is carried out in the same position, otherwise there is an imbalance that can cause damage to the bearings and manifest in the form of increased noise.
If there is a rattling sound when driving unscrew the front propeller shaft from the front flange of the main transmission and shifting one mounting hole, screw again.
If a rattling sound not disappeared, the front propeller shaft can be shifted to a maximum of 5 holes.

Withdrawal
On vehicles with automatic transmission selector switch in position ?N?.
Set the focus of the brake pedal VAG 1869/2.
Raise the vehicle.
Remove noise insulation under the gearbox.
In the presence of - remove underbody protection under the propeller shaft.

Markings on the front propeller shaft and flange / propeller shaft

Mounting bracket gearbox
Fig. 3.133. Mounting bracket gearbox

Remove gearbox bracket A of the body (Fig. 3.133).
Then remove the bracket from the transmission transfer box console.
Remove the front driveshaft.
If the front driveshaft is not detached, slightly lower the engine / gearbox. Thus the engine will not allow touching and front walls.

Setting
Install in reverse order, with the following should be considered.
Always replace the mounting bolts of the front propeller shaft.
Tags and have to stand in line.
Install gearbox bracket as follows:
Use new bolts (Fig. 3.132).
Screw the bracket to the gearbox first console with the transfer case torque.
Then screw the bracket A transmission to a body with a torque (Fig. 3.133).
Screw bolts of the front propeller shaft and tighten with torque.
If there is - install underbody protection under the propeller shaft.

Tightening torques
Console to bracket gearbox (always replace the bolts) - 50 Nm + 90 ?
Mount gearbox to the body (always replace the bolts) - 50 Nm + 90 ?
The front propeller shaft to a flange of the front of the main transfer (always replace the bolts) - 30 Nm + 90 ?
