Replacing the clutch master cylinder



In the event of leakage or internal bypass fluid clutch master cylinder assembly should be replaced, as follows:
a) Disconnect the negative battery cable;
b) Drain the brake fluid from the hydraulic clutch system:

- Connect the hose to the drain fitting 1 (Fig. 5.7) the clutch slave cylinder (Transmission);
- Open nozzle and drain the system of brake fluid into a container;
- Tighten the union;

c) Disconnect the clutch pedal (Fig. 5.8) from the clutch master cylinder:
- Remove the bottom cover of the instrument panel;
- Remove the locking bracket and then remove the pin;
- Check the condition of the pin sleeve;
d) Disconnect the fuse box:
- Remove the cover;

Tighten the screws on the fuse box (indicated by arrows)

- Remove the two screws (Fig. 5.9) and put the fuse box to the side;

e) disconnect the vacuum pump control system Cruise control (if the system is installed), which turn out two bolts of the bracket (Fig. 5.10) and set aside the whole assembly;
e) Place a cloth under the clutch cylinder and disconnect the hose brake fluid to the master cylinder of the clutch master cylinder reservoir;

g) Loosen fitting 1 (fig. 5.11) for feeding the brake fluid clutch slave cylinder;
g) unscrew the two screws 2 fixing the clutch master cylinder;
and) Remove the tube fitting 1 and remove clutch slave cylinder;
a) remove the gasket;
l) Clean clutch cylinder and the fire wall.
m) install a new clutch master cylinder:
- Install a new gasket on the fire wall;
- Install and tighten the choke tube 1 with your fingers;
- Screw the two nuts 2 and tighten the moment 13 Nm;
- Set the hose between the tank and the cylinder;
- Fill the brake fluid reservoir and tighten the choke tube after the connection of the brake fluid begins to flow; torque 15 Nm;

NOTE
Use only brake fluid Volvo (DOT +).

- Align opening bracket rod clutch master cylinder sleeve with a hole on the clutch pedal, insert the pin, set the spring latch, set the bottom cover of the instrument panel;
- Set the vacuum pump and put the two screws bracket; tightening torque 10 Nm;
- Install the fuse box (Fig. 5.10); Put the two screws and tighten to 10 N ?� m;
- Put the lid unit.
