Corrosion-resistant coating of the car and care

There are two very effective ways to care for your vehicle's anti-corrosion coating:
1) Always keep the car clean! For cleaning of the chassis, underbody, wheel arches cavities and edges of wings is necessary to apply a high pressure jet washer to remove dirt from them;
2) apply to the service station Volvo's holding of regular testing of anticorrosive coating of your car and perform the work required to keep it in top condition;
The car has been processed at the plant to protect it from corrosion. Under normal operating conditions, reprocessing is not required for about eight years, after which it will be necessary to repeat the process every three years.
It should be checked regularly and if necessary to restore the visible part of the anti-corrosion coating. If you need to renew the anti-corrosion coating, it should be performed immediately to prevent the penetration of moisture under the anti-corrosive layer. If you want to do the work yourself, you will need to wash and dry the vehicle, and then make sure that the surface to be treated is completely dry, without any trace of dirt. Anticorrosive mastic should be applied by spraying or brushing.
There are two different types of rustproofing compositions:
- Low viscosity (clear) to apply a thin layer on the visible parts of the vehicle;
- Thick sections to the bottom of the wheel arches and cavities, which are most subject to wear anti-corrosion coating.
Restoring the recommended anticorrosive coating compositions may need to be for the following body parts:
- Visible welds and joints of panels (a low-viscosity composition);
- The bottom of the cavity and the wheel arches (the thick part);
- Door hinge (a low-viscosity composition);
- Hinges and locks Hood (low viscosity composition).
After completing all the work on the car, remove the excess anticorrosive cloth dampened with mineral spirits.
Before sending the car with the engine compartment of the plant pollinate transparent wax-based composition, resistant to normal non-aromatic detergents engine. However, if you use the engine for detergents containing solvents such as mineral spirits or turpentine (in particular, solvents containing emulsifying agents) will need to re-apply a suitable anticorrosive wax-based composition for the restoration of the original barrier properties.
