Replacing the generator



The procedure for removing the power steering pump:
1) Disconnect the negative battery cable;
2) remove the engine cover (4 bolts);

NOTE
To remove the generator up to move in the direction of the power steering pump.

3) Loosen the automatic tensioner (Fig. 10.10), turn the pulley to the right, and remove the drive belt;
4) Release the automatic tensioner in the normal position;
5) disconnect the connector on the back of the power steering pump;

6) Remove the two screws 1 (Fig. 10.11) securing the power steering pump to the engine block;
7) Remove the bolts 2 of the generator bearings and bolts from the base of the pump;

NOTE
Carefully note the position of each bolt.

8) Remove the power steering pump and move it up to the side.

A WARNING
Do not disconnect the wires.

The procedure for removal of the generator:
1) Disconnect the positive lead and the signal lamp connector from the generator;

2) Remove the two mounting screws 3 (Fig. 10.12) from the generator;
3) remove the generator up.
The procedure for installing the generator and the power steering pump:
1) install a generator in its place, tighten the screws by hand and connect the wiring;
2) Install the power steering pump into place by tightening the bolts by hand and then put the bolts 1 and 2;
3) tighten all bolts of the power steering pump and alternator. Tightening torque: 25-30 Nm;
4) Install the connector on the base of the pump.
The procedure for installing the drive belt:

1) tighten the tensioner pulley by turning to the right and lock it in the extreme outer position with a screwdriver and a socket wrench 4 mm (Fig. 10.13);

2) Set the drive belt into place and remove the Allen key 4 mm, which is used as a catch (Fig. 10.14);
3) check the progress of the belt;
4) Connect the negative battery cable;
5) set the engine cover into place.
