Checking the oil level automatic transmission
Regularly check the fluid level automatic transmission. The test is performed as follows. The volume of the working fluid varies depending on the temperature. Fluid level should be checked with the engine at idle and at normal operating temperature of the working fluid.
ATTENTION Insufficient fluid level causes slippage of the friction elements of automatic transmission. Too high fluid level can cause intense foaming, loss of working fluid and disruption of the normal functioning of the automatic transmission. Use only the recommended hydraulic fluid. The use of any non-recommended working fluid can disrupt the normal functioning and the failure of the automatic transmission.

1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake. 2. Start the engine and press the brake pedal. 3. Alternately set the range switch lever to all positions and then set it to "P" (parking).

4. During operation of the engine at idle, remove the dipstick controlling automatic transmission and wipe it dry. Then insert the dipstick. Again remove the control probe. The normal fluid level corresponds to a range between the markings on the dipstick (Fig. 1.182).
