Elements of the rear drum brake shown in Fig. 10.7. Lift the car and secure on stands. Remove the wheel.
WARNINGS Always replace all the pads on the same axle of a vehicle, even if only one is worn out. Do not mix parts of the left and right brakes, work on each brake mechanism at a time. If the old brake pads set again before removal they are necessary for marking. Every time you work with the braking system, remember that the abrasion of brake pads containing asbestos dust is formed, which is harmful to health. |

Remove the brake drum / hub. If the brake drum can not be easily removed immediately, remove the plug in a wall-mounted rear brake, insert a screwdriver through the hole and press the retaining spring to increase the gap between the brake pads and brake drum, as shown in Fig. 10.8. If this does not remove the drum, loosen the adjusting nut handbrake lever to increase stroke pads. Remove the return springs brake pads. Remove the retaining springs and pins.

Remove the primary brake pads and adjusting the bar. You may need to release the adjuster strap with a screwdriver, as shown in Fig. 10.9. This will facilitate removal of the primary brake shoe. Remove the secondary brake shoe and remove the parking brake cable. Remove the bracket and disconnect the lever of the brake pads.

Grease the contact surface of the rear brake guard with a thin layer of lubricant based on white lithium in the points shown in Fig. 10.10. Be careful to avoid getting grease and other contaminants on the surface of friction. Set the control lever on the new secondary brake shoe. Install a secondary brake shoe with protivoskripnoy spring. Connect the parking brake cable. Collect a primary brake pads and adjusting the bar, the bar to connect protivoskripnoy spring. Install the cotter spring. Install the return springs. Center the brake pad assembly. Inspect the brake drum for cracks, scratches, deep scratches and stains, which will appear as discolored areas. If the stains can not be removed with fine sandpaper, a brake drum must be returned to the studio to rounding. If the drum can not be reground without exceeding the maximum diameter of the drum, replace the new drum. Install the hub / brake drum and wheel bearings. Install the wheel, tighten the bolts and tighten them to torque, lower the car. Remove air from a hydraulic drive of the brake system. Check the operation of the parking brake and, if necessary, adjust it. Repeatedly press the brake pedal to the brake pads have been established with a certain clearance with respect to the brake drum, refill the brake fluid reservoir. Avoid hard braking as much as possible, the first few hundred kilometers of the car until the new pads do not pritrutsya completely.
Brake Cylinder Withdrawal Lift the rear of the car and secure on stands. Remove the brake pads. Thoroughly clean all dirt from the area around the working brake cylinder. Remove the cap nut, disconnect and close a suitable stopper brake tube. Remove the two screws on the working brake cylinder. Remove the working brake cylinder guard rear brake and place on a clean work bench. Repeatedly press the brake pedal to the brake pads have been established with a certain clearance with respect to the brake drum.
