CDI (Common Rail Direkt Injection - total pipe direct injection) is a global contribution to the diesel-engine technology. CDI-principle can significantly reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. The diesel engine is based on this principle also provides improved driving comfort by reducing noise compared to today's pre-chamber engines. Therefore, diesel engines, the company Mercedes-Benz (Fig. 1.10) with direct fuel injection, working on the principle of Common Rail, far superior to the previous models.
Like all diesels Mercedes E-class, 4-cylinder diesel engines are equipped with catalytic analyzer and exhaust system.
