In August 1999, the market was released E 320 CDI (Fig. 1.15) - the most powerful version of the diesel engine in the class E with the CR-injection, which replaced the diesel E 300 D.
When the frequency of engine speed of 4200 min -1 the new 6-cylinder engine has an output of 145 kW / 197 hp, 11.5% more than its predecessor. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.3 seconds. Its top speed is 230 miles / h. Despite such respectful speed characteristics, the E 320 CDI consumes only 7.8 liters of diesel per 100 km (NEFZ).
