Diesel 6-cylinder engine E 300 D



At the request of customers Mercedes-Benz also produced 6-cylinder diesel engine E 300 D 3.0-liter, designated in the domestic market as the OM 606. This model has tangible benefits by reducing noise and vibration. So, the noise from the engine in the vehicle, the model E 300 D is even lower than the model with a gasoline-line 6-cylinder engine.
Technically diesel E 300 D is the 4-cylinder diesel engine E 220 D (OM 604) 2.2 liter, but to a greater extent - 5-cylinder diesel E 250 D (OM 605) 4-valve cylinder head with a prechamber, electronic -upravlyaemy connected to the CAN-bus-line injection pump, 2-mass flywheel for models with a manual transmission. Crankshaft 6-cylinder engine has seven main bearings. The distinguishing feature of a diesel E 300 D is an adjustable air supply, which is a three-stage resonance tube with movable flaps and variable depending on the speed of length. The length of the absorption maximum at low speeds when required to provide optimum boost, and decreases with increasing power.
Like diesel E 220 E 250 D, and D, and E have 300 D catalytic Analyzer provides an environmentally permissible emission of exhaust gases. Emission of hazardous substances at the 4-valve diesel models is less than one-third compared to the 2-valve, it can reduce exhaust emissions by 20%.
