Lubrication system

Lubrication system
Fig. 4.31. Lubrication system: 1 - hydraulic tappets, 2 - oil passages for supplying oil to the valve mechanism, 3 - the main oil passage from the engine block to the cylinder head, 4 - a flange of the oil filter, 5 - channel to the oil filter, 6 - the oil pump 7 - Oil regulator chain tensioner control

Engine lubrication system (Fig. 4.31) is designed to:
1. Lubricants engine components and assemblies. Create an oil film between moving surfaces ensures minimal wear surfaces (cylinders and pistons, crankshaft bearings, drive valves and other components).
2. Eliminating the gaps between the piston, piston rings and cylinder running surfaces.
3. Cooling parts such as pistons, crankshaft bearings.
The oil pump delivers oil under pressure to the respective channels, from where it is fed for cleaning the oil filter. When the filter starts clogging the drain valve which opens at a certain pressure auxiliary circulation path. The crude oil causes rapid wear of the bearings.
From the filter the lubricant over the holes in the cylinder block is flagged to the bearings of the crankshaft, connecting rod, the auxiliary shaft and the valve mechanism in the cylinder head.
The walls of the cylinder and piston pins are lubricated by oil flows through the connecting rods. For piston cooling oil jets are separate.
