Cleaning the exhaust gas of the diesel engine

The exhaust system of the diesel engine the catalytic converter. It reduces the emissions of hydrocarbons and carbon okisida to 50%. The catalytic converter does not filter solid particles, but to reduce their share in the exhaust gases it plays a prominent role. Gaseous hydrocarbons usually deposited on solid particles, thereby increasing the amount of emitted particles. However, since the hydrocarbons are oxidized in the converter, they can not settle on the solid particles.
