All the self-locking nuts and bolts must be replaced without fail!

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Details of the installation rack rear suspension assembly shown in the illustration, which includes all the links in the text.
  2. Remove the rear wheels, remove the spare tire (except models with the latest on the support bracket behind the tailgate and models 163.174). With proper configuration, remove the external spare wheel holder.
  3. On models 163.174 (ML 55 AMG), remove the lockers to protect wheel arches.
  4. Remove the cover (75r).
  5. Give nuts (75a) rack mount assembly to the side rail of the frame.
  6. By blocking the threaded rod against rotation, release the nut (75u) lower strut (75) on the lower control arm (67).
  7. Support the lower control arm (67).
  8. Release nut and remove the connecting bolt (78f) fixed to the lower arm (67) of the torsion rod (77).
  9. Loosen the nut fastening bolts, remove the lever (67) from the stretcher and gently lower it down, removing the guide.
  10. Release of a lever (67) threaded shock absorber (75) the rod rack assembly, - if necessary, use a hammer with soft brisk.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Details of the installation of components rack rear suspension assembly shown in the illustration, which includes all the links in the text.
  2. Clenching coil spring with the help of a special device (01, 01a), remove the shock absorber (75).
  3. Release the spring compressing tool.
  4. Assess the upper shock absorber components, defective parts replace.

Make sure also correctness of installation of washer (75g).

  1. Carefully review the state of the piston rod of the shock absorber - in the case of deformation or of a violation of the smooth progress of the piston shock absorber must be replaced.
  2. Make sure there are no signs of external leaks.
  3. Replace defective shock absorber - better in the second set.
  4. Assemble the rack-mount assembly, - re-compression of the spring is made by means of a special device.

Setting

Installation is the reverse order of dismantle of components. When installing the control arm rear axle should take a strictly horizontal position. Track correctness of landing the cover (75r).
