Removal and installation of the upper arm



Details of the installation of the upper control arm rear suspension

6j - Rack assembly
91 - Upper wishbone
91 - Upper ball bearing
91b - Axial bolts

111 - brake caliper (disassemble)
L6 / 3 - Left rear wheel sensor
Arrows - Landing marking bolts lever on the side rail of the frame


PERFORMANCE ORDER

All the self-locking nuts and bolts must be replaced without fail!

  1. Details of the lower control arm rear suspension shown in the illustration, which includes all the links in the text.
  2. Remove the rear wheels, remove the spare tire (except models with the latest on the support bracket behind the tailgate and models 163.174). With proper configuration, remove the external spare wheel holder.
  3. On models 163.174 (ML 55 AMG), remove the lockers to protect wheel arches.
  4. Remove the wheel sensor (L6 / 3, - in the case of the left arm).
  5. Remove the rack-mount assembly (6j) from the side of the beam suspension (see. Section Removal, dismantling and installation of the rear pillars).
  6. Squeeze the upper ball joint (91) from the hub assembly.
  7. Disconnect from the subframe lower wishbone (see. Section Removal, dismantling and installation of the rear pillars).
  8. Give fixing nuts, pre-marking the installation position (arrows), remove the axle bolt (91b) and separate the upper arm (91) of the frame rail.
  9. Check the condition of the rubber bushings and axial ball bearings, in case of need make replacement (see. Sections Removal and installation of the lower control arm, replacing the front axle bushings and Checking the ball joints knuckle).
  10. Installation is in the reverse order - with the installation of the lever assembly of the bridge should take a strictly horizontal position. Track correctness of combination caused during the dismantling of the landing labels (arrows).
