Carburetor Service



Refitting

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly from the carburetor.
  3. Disconnect from the carburettor fuel hose and plug the it in order to avoid falling into the power supply system of dirt.
  1. Mark and disconnect from the carburettor vacuum hoses (on an accompanying illustration to show elevated air cleaner vacuum connections (4.2 l)).
  1. Disconnect the electrical connections of the carburetor.
  2. Actuating lever turn the throttle in the fully open position and using the resulting slack drive cable, remove the latter from the throttle lever.
  3. Give nuts carburetor on the intake manifold and remove the washer. Remove the carburetor gasket. Laying emissions.
  4. On models 3.0 l disunite an electric socket and remove the heater.
  5. Zakuporte inlet intake manifold clean lint-free cloth to avoid falling into the engine of foreign objects.

Setting

Installation is in the reverse order.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Be sure to install a new gasket between the carburetor and intake manifold. If necessary, carefully remove the pre-mating surfaces with traces of the old, making sure that dirt does not fall into the intake pipe.
  2. Check carburetor for signs of fuel leaks and loss of vacuum. After warming up the engine, adjust the idle speed.

When the carburetor overhaul should pay attention to the following points:

  1. All components must be thoroughly rinsed with a suitable solvent and checked for signs of wear and tear;

Do not immerse in solvent solenoid assemblies and components for vacuum diaphragms

  1. Try to put all taken from the carburetor components separately and with reference to their position in the assembly;
  2. To clean a variety of jets, throttles and channels using only compressed air. In no case should not lock repaired using wire or other type of probes!
  3. When the carburetor overhaul, use the special sealing and remnabory necessarily replace all removed the diaphragm and O-rings. Replace worn parts and all.
  4. To avoid damaging the screw heads and jets use when removing / installing screwdrivers and wrenches only the proper size.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the carburettor from the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the return spring from the throttle lever of a drive of the accelerating pump.
  3. Remove the E-clip and washer lever mounting accelerator pump to the top cover of the carburetor (carburetor main components are shown in an accompanying illustration).

  1. Remove the E-clip cam of fast idling, then hold the cam, remove the return spring.
  2. Release the lock of each of the wires in the electrical connector of the carburetor. Try to remember the position of the wires in the connector.
  3. Disconnect the return spring priotkryvatelya air damper automatic start of assembly automation.
  4. Give fixing screws and partially separate the top cover from the main body of the carburetor. Disconnect the choke lever from the axis of rotation of the latter.
  5. Remove the top cover with seal from the main body of the carburetor.
  6. Remove the spring from the main body of the accelerator pump.
  7. If installed, remove the reduction of the plastic tube flow meter above the idle jet II.
  8. Turn over the main body upside down and remove the E-shaped clip and pull the actuator diaphragm throttle II.
  9. Give fixing screws at the bottom of the case of throttles. Note the location of the hollow screw.
  10. Remove the main body with the gasket from the throttle. Remove the insulator body.
  11. Now, the carburetor would disassembled into three main components - the top cover, the main body and the throttle body.

  13. Remove the locking plate of the hollow bolt fuel inlet.
  14. Remove the banjo bolt and remove the fuel inlet pipe, washers, and filter. Check the condition of the filter, if necessary, clean it or replace it.
  15. Remove the plunger assembly of the accelerator pump. Check the plunger for signs of wear or damage. If necessary, replace the plug.
  16. In the case of a corresponding complete set Give fixing screws and remove the plastic cover from the top of the vent assembly with the gasket.
  17. With dinnogubtsev remove the top cover of the axial float finger, then remove the float needle valve.
  18. Use a screwdriver to remove the top cover of the needle valve seat and washer.
  19. Remove the spring clip securing the needle on the float. Check the needle valve components for signs of wear, replace defective.
  20. Check the top cover for cracks and other damage. Make sure that the air damper automatic start moving freely, without jerks and jamming points.
  21. On l models 3.0 make sure that the bimetallic plate unit a lean at idle when the engine is not broken or otherwise damaged.
  22. Installation is the reverse order.

  1. Remove the banjo bolt and remove the fuel inlet pipe, washers, and filter. Check the condition of the filter, if necessary, clean it or replace it.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove from the main building of the electromagnetic shut-off valve with the puck.   1. Remove the main air jets. Give fixing screws and remove from the main body sprays. The removed components are shown in the accompanying illustration.

It is important when assembling the jets have been installed properly. Otherwise, inevitably there will be problems with the operation of the engine. If necessary, refer to the dimensional characteristics of jets (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual).

  1. Thoroughly rinse each nozzle in a suitable solvent, then blow it out with compressed air.

In order to avoid damages in any case do not try to clean the nozzles by means of wire or thin drills.

  1. Thoroughly rinse solvent carburetor main body and dry it with compressed air.
  2. With manual vacuum pump diaphragm check if the throttle II. Replace defective components.

Service housing units chokes

In view of the likelihood of tolerance adopted by the manufacturer correct reproduction landing axes throttle housing reactors is negligible. For this reason, in the case of damage to the axles must be replaced the throttle body assembly.


PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. On models with AT Give fixing bolts and remove from the throttle sensor switch throttle.
  2. Clean the throttle body in a suitable solvent and dry it with compressed air.
  3. Check the throttle actuator rod for signs of seizure, if necessary, lubricate the actuator.
  4. On models with AT set into place on the throttle sensor switch throttle, then follow him adjust.

Assembling the carburettor

Installation is the reverse order of removal.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Using new gaskets, connect the throttle body with the main body of the carburetor. Tighten the mounting bolts. Make sure that the hollow bolt is screwed to its original place in the throttle body (see. Accompanying illustration).

  1. Set the aperture Throttle II and secure it with the E-shaped clamp.
  2. Set with a well pump plunger assembly of the accelerator. It is mandatory to replace the top cover gasket carburetor.
  3. Install the top cover to the main body and connect the choke lever to the pivot axis of the latter. Firmly tighten the screws.
  4. Set the cam of fast idling with the spring, put on the axis of the E-shaped clip.
  5. Set the axial sleeve of the lever drive of the accelerating pump and connect to the axis of the lever. Slide the axle E-shaped clip and connect the throttle return springs.
  6. Connect the throttle return spring assembly automation II to run.
  7. Connect the wires to the electrical connector on the carburetor - each to its original location.
  8. Install the carburetor on the intake manifold.
  9. If necessary, adjust the idle speed and turns of fast idling.

Checks and Adjustments

Adjusting the Position of fuel level in the float

On some models, carburetor equipped with a special viewing window. If the fuel level in the sight glass before removal and disassembly of the carburetor was normal, and the replacement of the needle and the needle valve seat in the implementation of maintenance procedures not made, further adjustment is not required.


PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the carburetor top cover gasket.
  2. Turn the top cover so that the tongue of the seat of the float needle valve stared at.
  1. Measure A (cm. Accompanying illustration) from the top of the float to the surface of the liner top cover of the carburettor. On models 4.2 l it must be equal to 9.5 ÷ 10.5 mm on l models 3.0 - 5.0 ÷ 6.0 mm.
  1. If necessary, perform adjustments gently bend the tab seat of the float, achieving the desired value. Make sure that the needle valve is smooth on the tongue crept float.
  2. Turn the top cover to its normal position, allowing the stop tab float in contact with emphasis.
  1. Measure B (cm. Accompanying illustration) from the top surface of the cushion cover to the bottom of the carburetor float. On models 4.2 l result should reach 47.5 ÷ 48.5 mm on l models 3.0 - 44.0 ÷ 45.0 mm.
  1. To perform adjustments gently bend the locking tab.
  2. Replace the top cover on the carburetor, start the engine and check for any loss of vacuum and fuel leaks.

Adjustment of turns of fast idling without removing the carburetor from the engine

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. In accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, connect the tachometer and make installation of turns and quality of a mix of idling. Stop the engine.
  1. Open the throttle and set the adjusting screw on the second step of the cam of fast idling (see. Accompanying illustration - in the inset shows the screw mounted on the second stage of the cam).
  1. Not touching the gas pedal, start the engine and compare tachometer readings with regulatory requirements (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual).
  2. If necessary, perform adjustment, loosen the lock nut of the adjusting screw fast idling and turn the screw until you get the desired statement.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Open the throttle and set the adjusting screw on the second step of the cam of fast idling.
  1. Measure the gap A (see. Accompanying illustration) between the throttle I and the inner wall of the carburetor. Compare result of measurement data table sizes and adjustments.
  1. To perform the adjustment, loosen the lock nut of the adjusting screw fast idling and turn the screw until you get the desired statement.

  1. Make sure that the engine is cold, the air damper is completely closed.
  2. Create a vacuum at the priotkryvatele the choke and lightly push the piston rod side of the diaphragm priotkryvatelya.
  3. Measure the gap between the edge of the choke valve and the inner wall of the primary chamber. Compare the result with the requirements of table sizes and adjustments.

Adjusting the throttle damper

  1. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. Connect the tachometer and set the pace quality of a mix of idling.
  2. Open the throttle and check that the engine speed is in contact with the damper adjusting screw. Compare results of measurements to requirements of table sizes and adjustments.
  3. If necessary, perform adjustments turn the adjusting screw at the end of the axis of the damper in the desired direction, and recheck the preceding paragraph.
  4. Make sure that the momentum gradually fall from 2 000 to 1 000 per minute for about three seconds.

Adjusting the idle speed when the air conditioner

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. Connect the tachometer and set the pace quality of a mix of idling.
  2. Turn on the air conditioner and check the idle speed. Compare the result with the data tables of the sizes and adjustments.
  3. To make adjustments for models with AT and 3.0 l turn in the appropriate direction adjusting screw at the end of the damper. On models with the 4.2 liter Manual transmission adjustment is made by turning the screw on the end of the axis of the throttle.
