Electrical test

If you suspect a malfunction of the ignition system in the first place make sure that all components are clean and dry, and the terminals are not oxidized and are securely fastened. Check the condition of (the charge) of the battery and correct installation of the ignition timing.

If you eliminate the detected defects on the engine still does not start, follow these special checks.

L models 3.0

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the wire from the explosives suspected spark plug and connect it to a known good spark. Set the electrode gap spark of approximately 6 mm, firmly ground the spark to earth and ask the assistant to turn the engine. If the spark is not formed, go to the following checks.
  2. Remove all wires and explosives with the help of an ohmmeter to check for the presence of specific (with a given resistive resistance) conductivity. Check the condition of the terminals BB wires.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector of the coil. Turn on the ignition and check for voltage of the battery harness connector terminal 1 (see. Accompanying illustration). The voltage should be the case.
1 - on the wiring connector
2 - a socket on the coil
  1. With the ignition off disunite an electric socket of the distributor. Check for the conductivity of the wiring harness connector Mezhuyev coil and distributor harness connector (see. Accompanying illustration).
1 - harness connector coil
2 - harness connector distributor
  1. Disconnect the wire from the explosive ignition coil. Give fixing screws and remove the coil from the vehicle.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals of the ignition coil. The required value is 0.8 ÷ 1.0 Ohm.
  3. Measure the resistance between terminal 1 and terminal BB coil wire coil. The required value of 7.6 ÷ 11.4 kW.
  4. If necessary, replace the coil.
  5. Uncover the distributor. Provernuv engine, achieve combination of the rotor blades of the signal with the tab on the inductive sensor. With a clean probe of the blade, measure the air gap between the rotor blades and the protrusion of the sensor. If necessary, loosen the screws and accordingly Adjust the position of the sensor.
  6. If during the execution of the above checks do not reveal any violations, and the engine does not start, remove the spark plug and check the general condition and the value of the inter-electrode gap.

  2. Ignition using the lamp probe, check for power at the positive terminal of the primary circuit of the ignition coil. If power is available (light off), check for the wiring of the conduction between the battery, ignition switch and coil.
  3. Remove all wires and explosives with the help of an ohmmeter to check for the presence of specific (with a given resistive resistance) conductivity. Check the condition of the terminals BB wires.
  4. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery and the electrical wiring from the ignition coil.
  5. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the positive and negative terminals of the primary coil circuit. The required value is 1.08 ÷ 1.32 Ohm.
  6. Measure the resistance between the positive terminal of the primary circuit and the terminal of the ignition coil wire explosives. If the result is outside the 9.0 ÷ 13.4 ohms, replace the coil.
  7. If during the execution of the above checks do not reveal any violations, and the engine does not start, remove the spark plug and check the general condition and the value of the inter-electrode gap.
