Removal and installation of the water pump
Withdrawal | - Drain the cooling system.
- Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
- Remove the upper radiator hose.
- Give the screws that secure the top casing of a radiator, release the clips (squeezing them) securing the top casing to the bottom and remove the top casing of the engine compartment of the vehicle.
- Loosen the adjusting bolt of the generator and remove the drive belt (s) from the water pump pulley.
- Give nuts and fan clutch pulley to the water pump flange, washers.
- Separate the fan assembly of his clutch and a pulley on the water pump and remove components from the vehicle.
- On models 3.0 l:
- Remove the belt gas distribution;
- Give bolts of the water pump, memorizing the length and location of each.
- On models 4.2 l Give bolts of the water pump to the gas distribution chain cover and remove the pump from the cover (the components of the water pump 4.2 liter models are shown in the accompanying illustration).
- Check the pump housing and rotor for corrosion, cracks and other defects.
- Check the clearance of the bearing in the pump housing to vote noise emitted by the bearing during rotation of the pump.
- Check the condition of the clutch assembly by turning it by hand. Rotation should take place without jerks and jamming points, with a slight resistance. Node is not repairable in the event of failure to be replaced.
 | Because of the design features of the water pump repair it seems inappropriate. The drafters of the Guidelines recommend that in case of failure to replace the pump assembly. |

Setting | - Installation is in the reverse order.
- Make sure to clean the mating surfaces of the water pump and the engine - they must not bear any traces of old sealant.
- Put on an interfaced surface of the pump section of the sealant pad Ø 2 ÷ 3 mm. Make sure that the sealing was applied to the inner side of bolt holes.
 | - On models 3.0 l:
- Set the pump to the engine block and tighten bolts of its fastening in the manner and with the effort shown in the accompanying illustration, where: A = 16 ÷ 21 nm = 7 ÷ 8 Nm, C = 30 ÷ 40 Nm.
- Replace the gas distribution belt.

- On models 4.2 l Install water pump on the lid of the gas distribution chains and tighten bolts of its fastening with demanded effort (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual).
- Replace the pump drive pulley, clutch assembly and a fan. Tighten fixing nuts with demanded effort.
- Fit the drive belt (s) and adjust the force of its (their) tension.
- Install the upper radiator cover and tighten the screws of its fastening.
- Connect the negative cable to the battery.
- Replace the upper radiator hose and fill in the required amount of coolant required grade (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual).
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
