Clutch Repairs

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check the pressure plate and cover for damage or bending. If damaged, replace both parts in the kit. Check the condition of the springs and the clutch disc splines. Since oily clutch linings are not cleaned, in such a case, the slave drive should be replaced.
  2. Check the clutch lining to the possibility of their use by measuring the distance from the upper surface of the lining to the upper side of the rivets (illustration below). If the amount is less than 0.30 mm, the disc must be replaced. The disk should be replaced, and if this size is close to the boundary wear.

Measuring the thickness of overlays of a conducted disk to heads of rivets.

  1. To check the beating the slave drive should be on a suitable rod or shaft coupling clamp between the centers of the lathe. Set the dial indicator next to the disk so that the probe rests on the edge of the disc, namely 95 mm (petrol engine) or 102.5 mm (other engines) from the midpoint of the disc ("R" in the illustration below). Slowly turn the disc and remove readings. If the value is greater than 1.0 mm, the disc can be carefully align the forceps. Otherwise, replace the disk. Check mate slave drive hub on the splined shaft connection clutch. To do this, insert the disc and grab the outer edge with thumb and forefinger. Direction of rotation move the drive back and forth. If there is a gap of 0.8 mm, there is deterioration of the splined connection. The reason for this in most cases to be found in the slave drive. Check the inner ends of the fingers of the diaphragm spring for wear. If there are deep signs of wear, replace all of the clutch. The ends of the diaphragm spring must be at the same level within 0.8 mm.
Measurement of palpation of a conducted disk. Set the indicator according to the size of the radius "R". If desired, slightly to align the forceps.
  1. Bent fingers can be rectified. For this purpose a special tool is typically used, as shown below, however, can penetrate into the steel strip and bend the ends of the slot as shown.
Bending the ends of the fingers of the diaphragm spring.
