Cylinder block

Marking size groups of cylinders and main bearings of the crankshaft

A. Designation size groups of cylinders

B. Designation size groups of main bearing crankshaft

Cleaning

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the cylinder all mounted units, remove the sensor. Remove the plug, which plugs into the drill holes into which screw on the self-tapping screws and remove the tick for the screw heads.
2. Carefully clean the engine block from the remains of gasket material.
3. Remove all plugs oil channels (if available). These plugs are wrapped very tightly, so they may need drilling, followed by the passage of a tap. When assembling the engine, replace all the plugs.
4. In case of severe contamination of the surface of the cylinder need steam cleaning.
5. After the steam treatment unit once again clean lubrication holes and channels. Wash all internal channels of the cylinder with warm water until no water comes out clean. Thoroughly dry the block and grease all split and polished surfaces to prevent corrosion.
6. If the surface of the cylinder moderately polluted, we can restrict the cylinder sink with hot soapy water.
7. Clean the threaded holes and run tapping.
8. Screw the new plug, after brushing their sealant.
9. If the assembly of the engine is delayed, then lubricate the plane of the cylinder and cover the entire unit with plastic wrap.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Visually check for cracks in the cylinder block and corrosion. Check the condition of the threads in the holes, mark the location with stripped threads. If there were suspicions of a leak of coolant inside the engine block, the block should be tested for leaks, which should refer to the workshop. At detection of defects and repair the unit (if applicable), or replace.
2. Check for chips and burrs on the inner surface of the cylinder. Check bead at the top of the cylinder, which indicates increased wear of the cylinder.
3. Check for chips and burrs on the inner surface of the cylinder.
4. Measure the inner cylinder diameter of 10 mm from the edge of the cylinder parallel and perpendicular to the motor axis. Repeat measurements at distances of 60 and 100 mm from the edge of the cylinder. The results of these six dimensions define the taper and ovality of the cylinder.

A warning

Size group designation applied by stamping in the bottom of the cylinder on the flywheel side. Apply two sets of symbols - the four digits that indicate the inner diameter of the cylinder belonging to this size group and the fifth digit, which refers to the bed main bearings of the crankshaft in the cylinder block. The first number in the notation for the cylinder indicates the dimension of the group of 1st cylinder and 4th - the dimension of the group of 4-cylinder (see. Fig. Designation size groups of cylinders and main bearings of the crankshaft).

5. Check the condition of the pistons and rings. Determine the clearance between the piston and the cylinder diameter measured as the difference between the cylinder and piston.
6. Compare the results with the regulations. If any of the measured value is beyond the regulatory limits, the cylinder should be chiseled under the next repair diameter, and if it is not possible, the cylinder block must be replaced. To take the most appropriate next steps, consult a specialist.
7. If the state of the piston and cylinder is satisfactory, and the wear is such that the clearance between the piston and the cylinder in the normal range, you only need to replace the piston rings.
8. In this case the cylinders are exposed only honningovaniyu which provides better running-in of the piston rings and tight fit to the walls of the cylinder (performed by a workshop).
