Ignition System Check

A warning

Observe safety measures excluding electrical failure. Before connecting the device, turn off the ignition.

Carburetor engines WITHOUT CONVERTER

Ignition failures are usually caused by contamination of the contacts or the breakdown of the surface.

It is forbidden to check the ignition disconnecting a serial high-voltage wires.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. When refusing start, first check the battery voltage at the starter, disconnecting and connecting with a mass of high-voltage wire of the coil. If the voltage is less than 9.5, check the battery and charging system.
2. Under normal speed starter, connect stroboscope and determine the presence of voltage on spark. If there are strobe flash, it is necessary to check the spark. Otherwise, check the condition of the wires, distributor cap, coals and runner.
3. If there is a spark, check the carburetor.
4. If there is no spark, check the voltage on the "+" coils (11.7 in). If the voltage is below 11 V, check the entire supply chain, including fuses and ground connection.
5. If the voltage is normal, check the ignition coil (winding resistance, the reliability of contacts, especially low-voltage).
6. If the coil is working, the electronic switch is faulty (checked and repaired in the service station).
7. Check thermovacuum valve. Remove the damping valve and purge - air should flow freely from the distributor.
8. If the engine works with faults, check the low and high voltage circuit.
9. Check the contacts and the resistance of the primary circuit.
10. Check the distributor cap, spark (through them easily), thumb and coals.
11. Check the presence of voltage strobe on all plugs and wires.
12. In the absence of voltage on the part of the wiring, check the wires or distributor cap.
13. In the absence of high voltage, check the ignition coil.

With carburetor engines converter and injection engines

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. In case of cancellation of the ignition system, check air filter, spark, adjust the cable flap, compression and the gaps in the valves.
2. Check the ignition system of the engine is reduced to determining the timing, check the reliability of the connectors on the control unit and fixing the wires.
3. injection engines should use self-test mode.
4. If a problem is found, the vehicle must be put in the service of car-care center.
