Adjusting the tension accessory drive belt

Accessory drive belt is considered to be properly tightened, if the deflection (lower arrow in Fig. 11.25) between the pump pulley and the crankshaft is less than 5 mm. Adjust the belt spend rotation of the adjustment bolt, for which:
- Loosen the nuts and bolts of the pump;
- Loosen the lock nut of the adjusting screw on the bracket of the pump;
- Turn the adjusting screw and check the belt tension constant as long as the belt does not flex by 5.0 mm when pressed with the thumb in the middle of the belt between the crankshaft pulley and pump;
- Tighten the lock nut of the adjusting bolt;
- Tighten the nuts and bolts of the pump.
