Timing
Located on top of the camshaft is driven by a toothed belt mounted on the camshaft pulley, crankshaft pulley and the water pump. Details of the timing shown in Fig. 25. As can be seen from the figure, the toothed belt is completely closed. Those who are familiar with older engines Polo, knows that the toothed belt tension to control the bias of the water pump. Now toothed belt gets its own tensioning device.

Installation of the gear of the crankshaft must be performed as follows: - To fix the pulley in the crankshaft end has keyway; - On the inside of the distributor gears is spline. If the belt is not damaged, its life 100,000 km. The belt should be adjusted when it is removed or replaced. If dismantled belt planned to use again, it should not be in contact with plastic lubricant and oil. Belt not bend as it will kinks.
