Cylinder head and valves

In view of the design features of the timing necessary to pay attention to several important points that you need to know before you begin any work on the cylinder head:
1) The camshaft is equipped with five bearings. The rear bearing is used for axial location of the camshaft;
2) in connection with the installation of hydraulic tappets to rework valve seats should consider the following:
- Model Polo the camshafts of various designs, whereby the difference in phases appeared timing. The new engine of 1.4 liters is characterized by a different design of the camshaft;
- To gain access to the valve springs and pushers, when removing the camshaft is necessary to observe the specific recommendations in order to avoid deformation of the shaft. Since camshafts engines covered in this manual has a different design, you must specify the designation of the engine to get the right shaft;
- No need to adjust often gaps between the pusher and the guide bush - wear compensation all valve stems made by the action of hydraulic pushers;
- The manufacturer often does not indicate the exact values for check of working backlashes of cores of valves, measuring the length of being in a free state of the springs, etc., since these parameters are measured by gauges. More detailed information can provide service center Volkswagen;
- Planting the valve seat springs themselves valve springs and valve stem seals are difficult, as they are the projections of the cylinder head. Subsequent operations are performed using an auxiliary tool accurately in accordance with the guidelines given herein. When removing the valve ensure that the parts have been fitted - pushers, crackers valves, the upper valve plate, the inner and outer valve springs, valve stem seals and valve spring seat.
