Exhaust gas recirculation

EGR (system EGR) is to reduce the amount of nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas. Part of the waste gases through a controlled valve system returns back into the intake manifold. Since the waste gases contain less gas capable of burning, they return, thereby reducing the temperature in the combustion chamber and at the same time reduce the amount of nitric oxide.

Parts of the exhaust gas recirculation in the VR6 engine
Fig. 163. Parts of EGR on engine VR6: 1 - connection; 2 - Union nut; 3 - conduit; 4 - the air filter; 5 - EGR valve; 6 - bolt 10 Nm; 7 - connection hose; 8 - vacuum line; 9 - plug connector; 10 - temperature sensor for exhaust gas recirculation; 11 - the pipeline; 12 - EGR valve; 13 - a lining; 14 - an arm; 15 - plug connector

Adjusting the system exhaust gas recirculation takes place through self-installed control system. The composition of the exhaust gas recirculation is different for the 2.0-liter engine and the engine VR6, and presented at the Fig. 163 and 164, respectively.
When removing and installing parts of exhaust gas recirculation for the VR6 engine, follow these guidelines:
- The connecting element 1 (see. Fig. 163) screw into the upper part of the intake manifold torque 35 N ? m;
- Tighten the union nut 2 to 30 N ? m;
- The air filter 4 when pollution can lead to irregular operation of the engine;
- Plug connector 9 (brown) onto the valve 5 EGR;
- EGR valve 5 - a two-way valve, which monitors the work of the self-diagnostic system;
- Vacuum line 8 leads to compound brake booster;
- Line 11 goes from the exhaust pipe and the pipe is to return the exhaust gas;
- Always replace the gasket 13, was shot when EGR valve 12;
- Bracket 14 secures the EGR valve and the electrical cable. It is screwed to the cylinder head cover;
- Plug connector 15 (black) is connected to the temperature sensor for exhaust gas recirculation.
When removing and installing parts of exhaust gas recirculation for the 2.0-liter engine, follow these guidelines:

Parts of the exhaust gas recirculation on the 2.0-liter engine
Fig. 164. Parts of the exhaust gas recirculation on the 2.0-liter engine: 1 - the air filter; 2 - plug connector; 3 - vacuum line; 4 - EGR valve; 5 - rubber coupling; 6 - the holder; 7 - union nut; 8 - bolt 10 Nm; 9 - adjusting the EGR valve; 10 - a lining; 11 - the pipeline; 12 - an arm; 13 - sealing cone; 14 - pipeline

- Line 11 (see. Fig. 164) - a discharge pipe for the exhaust gas;
- Always replace the gasket 10 when the control valve was removed 9 EGR;
- Bracket 12 is wrapped in the cylinder head;
- Line 14 leads to exhaust gas recirculation valve;
- Tighten the union nut 7 to 30 N ? m;
- Vacuum line 3 leads to a compound brake booster;
- The air filter 1 when pollution can lead to irregular operation of the engine;
- Plug connector 2 with two connectors fitted on the valve 4 EGR;
- Return valve 4 exhaust gas - is a two-way valve, which monitors the work of the self-diagnosis system of the car;
- The holder 6 is mounted on the AB.
