Cleaning system with activated carbon

Parts cleaning system using activated carbon
Fig. 161. Part purification system using activated carbon 1 - arm; 2 - the throttle body; 3 - a ventilation hose; 4 - a vacuum hose; 5 - the electromagnetic valve; 6 - plug connector; 7 - the connecting elements are arranged on the bottom of the air filter; 8 - separator; 9 - a bolt 10 Nm; 10 - vent line; 11 - connection elements; 12 - O-shaped sealing ring; 13 - the holder; 14 - T-fitting; 15 - vent line

The main objective of this system - to prevent fuel vapors escaping through vent line 15 (Fig. 161) of the fuel tank into the atmosphere, and assemble them into the separator 8 with activated charcoal. With this system it is captured and condense the environmentally harmful vapors that may be formed, for example by heating the fuel in the tank.
With the engine running vapors collected in a separator with the activated carbon, condensing, flows back into the tank. This process is regulated by a solenoid valve 5, the operation is controlled by an electronic control unit (ECU).

Differing from the VR6 engine part cleaning systems using activated charcoal 2.0-liter engine
Fig. 162. Other than the VR6 engine parts cleaning system using activated carbon to 2.0-liter: 1 - the lower surface of the air filter; 2 - rubber grip; 3 - solenoid valve; 4 - plug connector; 5 - the throttle body

Most parts of the system are the same for the 2-liter engine and the engine VR6. Details of purification using activated carbon for the engine shown in VR6 (see. Fig. 161). Differing parts of the system to a 2-liter engine shown in (Fig. 162).
When removing and installing parts cleaning system using activated carbon follow these recommendations:
- Vent line 15 (see. Fig. 161) moves away from the fuel tank ventilation valve;
- 1 bracket secures the solenoid valve 5;
- 3 ventilation hose must not come into contact with other parts of the vehicle;
- A vacuum hose 4 extends from the crankcase ventilation valve;
- Solenoid valve 5 is opened with the ignition in the direction of the arrow. If the engine is warmed up, the valve is switched on the computer;
- Plug connector 6 - a two-pin plug connector green;
- Connecting elements 7 are arranged on the bottom of the air filter;
- Separator with activated carbon is located in the front right wheel arch. For its removal is necessary to remove the coating wheel arches;
- Vent line 10 goes into the atmosphere and strengthened in the back;
An O-ring seal 12 should always be replaced if they were open connection elements 11;
- The location of the coupling elements 1 (see. Figure 162) correspond to the connecting elements 7 (see. Fig. 161);
- Solenoid valve 3 (see. Fig. 162) is secured with a rubber holder 2;
- 4 Plug the solenoid valve block - a plug connector 6 (see. Fig. 161).
