Crankshaft Seals

Front and rear crankshaft oil seal should be changed each time the crankshaft or the packing flange. If you follow the above guidelines, you do not need a special tool to remove or install the crankshaft oil.
Both of the gland can be replaced with the engine installed, if you notice traces of oil leaked near them. In addition, the crankshaft oil seal leakage may also indicate slipper clutch. In the worst case, oil spots in front of the engine may lead to slippage of the belt drive of auxiliary units, which can cause, for example, the loss of the charging power generator.
Removing the front oil seal
In order to have access to the crankshaft front oil seal, remove the V-ribbed belt, as described in Sec. 17.4.1.
In order to loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt including the fifth gear and tighten the parking brake lever. Then unscrew the bolt.

Beat gear camshaft by inserting the mandrel back and briefly hitting it with a plastic or rubber hammer back

When removing the front oil seal removal can be guided by the description of the camshaft oil seal. It can be used a lever designed to remove the camshaft oil seal (see. fig. 438 ).
Removing the rear oil seal
In order to gain access to the crankshaft rear oil seal, remove the gearbox, clutch and flywheel. To remove the rear oil seal, we suggest to unscrew the packing flange and then replace the packing. For this reason, you should also unscrew the intermediate plate and the engine oil sump.
Remove the six flange bolts from the transaxle oil seal and remove the flange with the gland.
Knock out the oil seal from the flange.
Install front oil seal
On the removed engine
Lubricate the oil seal lip and gently Press fit the oil seal into the flange from the inside out so that the outer surface of the oil seal is flush.
Gently slide the flange gasket through the crankshaft to the cylinder block and align it well. Tighten bolts evenly around the circle to 10 Nm.
On the engine installed
For the front crankshaft oil seal can buy a special device for pressing it. This device is a piece of pipe that fits over the outside of the gland. After that, with the help of a pulley bolt to crankshaft oil seal can be pressed into the crankcase housing. Thoroughly grease the inner and outer sides of the gland, and set the oil seal to the crankcase. Now carefully tighten the bolt zapressovyvaya while packing.
Install rear oil seal
Grease the working surface of the gland and carefully Press fit it into the flange so that the outer surface of the oil seal is flush.
Gently slide the flange gasket through the crankshaft to the cylinder block and align it well. Tighten bolts evenly around the circle to 10 Nm.
