Installation of pistons and rods



If you have removed the piston cooling nozzles, then re-install them and tighten the bolts to 10 Nm.
Liberally grease the cylinder bores.
Put all the rods according to the number of cylinders. Cast tabs on the rod and a rod cover should be directed towards the intermediate shaft.

Put all of the pistons in the order of their installation (see. Fig. 422).
Distribute the piston rings on the cylinder surface, so that they are arranged relative to each other at an angle of 120 ?�.

Put the mandrel to set the piston rings into the cylinder at the location of the area of the piston rings (Fig. 431) and push the piston rings into the grooves of the piston. Check that the piston rings are fully seated in their slots. If you do not have a special holder, you can use a thin metal strip, which wrap around the piston rings and tighten so that the ring went into the grooves on the piston.
Rotate the crankshaft so that the two crank pins were in the BDC.
Insert the rod into the hole on top of the cylinder. To put it on the engine side so that the connecting rod could be directed at the root neck, and thus were not scratch the surface of the cylinder and the connecting rod journals. Bearing rod must already be in the rod projection in a recess.
Insert the piston so that the ring in turn into the holes and the cylinder rod heel sat on the crank pin of the crankshaft.
Insert the second bearing in the bearing cover so that the bearing body sat in a recess in the lid bearing surfaces and lubricate well pads. Push the connecting rod cap to the connecting rod and easily tap it.

A warning
Make sure that the two protrusions are cast together.

Lubricate the connecting rod bolts and threaded rods.

Tightening the connecting rod bearings occurs in a specific pattern. As already mentioned bolts Always replace with new ones. Alternately tighten the bolts connecting rod bearing (Fig. 432) to 30 N ?� m, and then turn them out of the end position a further 90 ?� (a quarter turn), without using a torque wrench.

A warning
When measuring rod bearing axial clearance use old bolts connecting rod bearings, as the use of new bolts for this purpose, they can no longer be spinning for a second time.

After installing the connecting rod rotate the crankshaft several times, once to make sure that it rotates easily, without sticking.
Check out all the rods marking notes again and make sure that the pistons are pointing in the right direction. Also make sure that the recesses for oil nozzles are located on the right side.

With the probe to measure the gap between the side planes of the connecting rod and crankshaft surface (Fig. 433) - the axial clearance of the connecting rod bearings should not exceed 0.37 mm.
