Removing the camshaft



To remove the camshaft installed in the cylinder head, remove the first toothed timing belt (Sec. 17.4.1).
If you need to remove the camshaft gear, it must be locked in a stationary state by a mandrel and unscrew the bolt. Since gear camshaft sits firmly in place, insert into one of the holes of the gear wheel and remove the mandrel short strikes rubber or plastic hammer. Remove Woodruff Key gear camshaft. Otherwise, remove the camshaft gear after the removal of the shaft.

Cylinder head accommodating the camshaft now has the form shown in Fig. 436. Remove the camshaft, guided designation numbers bearing caps.
Remove slowly and alternately on each side of the bearing cap number 1, 3 and 5, and remove them. Until screw cap bearing number 2 and number 4.
Loosen the nut bearing cap number 2 and number 4, every 2 turns evenly and crosswise, as long as both the cover will not be unscrewed. Remove the lid and remove the camshaft. The cover can be number 1 sealing ring for cylinder head cover.
Clamp the shaft in a vise with metal jaws and unscrew a bolt of camshaft sprocket, if not yet done. Remove the gear and remove the spring washer. Remove the oil seal on the other side.
Remove the tappets as necessary. In order to prevent any confusion, mark them, causing them to the inside of the risks: for the first pusher - one, two for the second, etc. The count is conducted from the side where the drive timing.
Fold the pushers from the camshaft on a clean cloth to keep spilled oil.
