Replacing right axle gearbox oil seal



To change, proceed as follows:
a) preliminary tasks:
- Loosen the nuts of the front right wheel;
- Raise the front of the vehicle;
- Put the support legs underneath for mounting the jack;
- Remove the right wheel;
b) Disconnect the steering knuckle by a shock absorber:
- Remove the wire from the ABS bracket;

- Remove the bracket 3 (Fig. 5.44) from the brake pipe;
- Remove the brake line from the bracket;
- Turn out the top bolt 1;
- Turn out the bottom bolt 2;

c) remove the front mudguard of the engine (Fig. 5.23);

g) Remove the heat shield from the right axle (Fig. 5.26);

d) remove the central longitudinal beam (Fig. 5.27);

e) Remove right axle shaft (Fig. 5.31);
- Remove the two locking pin with a mandrel diameter of 5 mm;
- Press the knuckle and remove the axle shaft of the gearbox;
g) Remove the stuffing box:
- Remove the O-ring;
- Remove the oil seal;
- Clean the stuffing box and the shaft.
h) install a new gland the right axle on vehicles with manual gearbox M3R:
- Lubricate the contact edge of a new oil seal;

- Set the guide sleeve on the shaft 999 5621 (Fig. 5.45);
- Install the oil seal on the guide sleeve;
- Remove the tool;
- Install new O-ring on the shaft;
On vehicles with manual transmission M5P / M5D:
- Lubricate the contact edge of a new oil seal;

- Install the oil seal on the guide bushing 999 5316 (Fig. 5.46);
- Install the oil seal in the gearbox;
- Install new O-ring on the shaft;
and) set the axis:

- Establish the right axle on the slots so that the holes for the locking pins in line (Fig. 5.47). If the hole Transmission is bottom (bottom of the space between the teeth) between two slots, the corresponding hole in the half-axis should be at the top of the slot axis and vice versa;
- Put the upper bolt knuckle;

Install two new locking pin (Fig. 5.48). Fill the hole with sealant 1161058-1 locking pins;
a) establish a central longitudinal beam and heat shield (see. Div. "Installation of transmission" and Fig. 5.27);
l) fix the knuckle on the shock absorber (Fig. 5.44):
- Put the two new adjusting screw and tighten to 90 N ?� m;
- Set the brake lines to the bracket and fix the bracket;
- Secure the ABS system in a bracket;
- Set the wheel;
m) Check the oil level in the gearbox and top up with oil (see. Div. "Installing the gear box");
n) Install the front mudguard of the engine (Fig. 5.23) and secure it with bolts and screws. Tightening torque 10 Nm.
