Check the wear of brake pads, discs and drums

You will need: a caliper or ruler.

NOTE
When braking the car withdraws aside or heard unusual noises, check the brake pads.

1. Place the vehicle on a lift or jack (supports).
2. Remove the front wheel.
3. Check the housing through a hole in the brake caliper pad state. If the thickness of the friction linings less acceptable (Table. 4.3), replace the brake pads (see. "Replacing the brake pads Front brake").
4. Measure the thickness of the brake disc. If its thickness is less than acceptable (see. Table. 4.3), replace the brake disc (see. "Replacing the brake disc").
5. To check the degree of wear of the brake pads rear brake, remove the rear wheel and the brake drum (see. "Removing and installing the brake drum").
6. Measure the thickness of the friction lining. If the thickness is less than acceptable (see. Table. 4.3), replace the pad (see. "Replacing the brake pads rear brake").

Table 4.3 Dimensions of brake pads, discs and drums

NOTE
Replace pads in the following cases:
- The thickness of the friction linings of less than 0.5 mm;
- The surface of the lining zamaslena;
- Lining loosely connected to the base

7. Measure the diameter of the working surface of the brake drum. If it is larger than allowed (see. Table. 4.3), replace the drum unit (see. "Removing and installing the brake drum").

NOTE
The maximum allowable working diameter of the brake drum is stamped on the inner side.
