Check voltage release

The purpose of this test is to verify that the electronic voltage regulator maintains the voltage generated at the required level.

Preparing for inspection

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before the test, check the following items:
    - Installed in the vehicle battery must be fully charged;
    - Check the tension of the alternator drive belt.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ?OFF?.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  4. Connect a digital voltmeter between terminals ?S (L)? generator and "weight". Connect the positive lead of the voltmeter to the terminal ?S (L)? generator.
  5. Disconnect the wire from the plug ?B? generator.
  6. Connect the DC ammeter to measure the limit of 0-100 A in series between the plug ?B? and disconnected from the alternator wire. Make sure that the negative probe of the ammeter connected to the generator disconnected from the wire.
  1. Connect the tachometer wire to the negative terminal of the battery.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check that the scale is clearly visible voltmeter to determine the voltage. The voltmeter should read battery voltage. If the voltmeter shows voltage of 0V, then do not complete an electrical circuit connecting the terminal ?S (L)? generator and the positive terminal of the battery or blown fuse.
  2. Start the engine and turn off all electricity consumers.
  3. Increase the engine speed to 2500 min -1, and when the current is reduced to less than 10 A, read the voltage value on the voltmeter.

Result of checking

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. If the voltage corresponds to the desired value, then the voltage regulator is undamaged and functioning properly. If the voltage is not correct, it means that the voltage regulator or a faulty generator.

  1. After completion of the test limit current produced by the generator, turn the engine to idle and turn the ignition off.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  3. Remove the tachometer, voltmeter and ammeter.
  4. Attach the wire to the terminal ?B? generator.
  5. Attach the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
