Actions at road accident (fault)

If the engine does not start

ATTENTION
If the engine does not start, do not try to make it, hauling the car. This can lead to an accident or other damage. Furthermore, starting the engine by means of towing can lead to overloading of the catalytic converter and exhaust gas ignition.

If the engine will not crank starter or scrolls very slowly
1. If the car is equipped with an automatic gearbox, move the selector lever to position "P" or ?N?, and turn on the emergency brake.
2. Check the wiring to the terminals of the battery to make sure that they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light is weak or off when the starter motor is turned on, therefore the battery is discharged.
4. Check the tightness of wires starter.
5. Do not start the engine by towing.
6. Check the fuel level in the tank.

Check wire connections of the ignition system

7. Check the connections of the ignition system wires, coil and spark plugs. Reconnect disconnected or poorly connected to the connection (Fig. 1.139).
8. Check the fuel line in the engine compartment.

Start of the engine from an external source
The battery pack used as an additional source must have a rated voltage of 12 V.
To start the car with the discharged battery from an external source precisely observe the instructions below.

ATTENTION
The gas released by the battery during engine startup, very explosive. Violation of these guidelines may result in serious damage to the car or injury. If you are not sure about this operation, seek qualified help. Car batteries contain hydrochloric acid. It is toxic and is corrosive.

1. If the battery is used as an additional source, mounted on another vehicle, make sure the cars do not touch each other.
2. Turn off all unnecessary lighting and accessories on both vehicles.

3. Connect the connecting cables to the terminals of the battery shown in the figure at 1,140 fine.
First connect one end of the connecting wire to the positive (+) terminal of the discharged battery. Then connect the other end of the wire to the positive (+) terminal of the battery on another vehicle (used as an additional source). Then, using another connecting cable, connect one end to the negative (-) terminal of the battery of another car (used as an additional source). Then connect the other end of the wire to the engine block of the car with the discharged battery in a place that is farthest from the battery. Do not connect the jumper cable to the moving parts of the engine.
4. Start the engine of the car with the battery, which is used as an additional source, and allow the engine to idle for a few minutes. This will ensure full recharge of the battery. During the start of the engine, keep the engine speed of the car, the battery is used as an additional power source, at 2000 min -1.
5. Start the car using a normal operation for starting the engine. After the engine has started, do not remove the connecting wires and let the engine run at idle or at 2000 min -1 for a few minutes.
6. Carefully remove the connecting cables in the reverse order of their installation. First remove the connection cable to the negative terminal and then the positive.

If the engine overheats
1. Pull off the road and stop the car in a safe place.
2. Move the lever to position "P" ("parking") (automatic transmission) or the shift lever position neutral and apply the parking brake. If the air conditioner is working, turn it off.
3. If the coolant is flowing out of the vehicle or under the hood is steam, turn off the engine. Do not open the hood until the coolant does not stop flowing from under the vehicle or under the hood no longer go pairs. If there are no visible signs of leakage of coolant, do not turn off the engine and make sure that the radiator fan cooling system working. If it does not work, turn off the engine.
4. Check the drive belt the coolant pump. If it does, check the power of its tension.
5. If the drive belt and the water pump is defective, or there is a coolant leak, immediately turn off the engine and contact a specialist.

ATTENTION
Do not open the radiator cap when the engine is hot. May release the coolant boiling.

6. If the cause of overheating is detected, wait until the engine coolant temperature returns to normal. If there was a leak of coolant, carefully remove the radiator cap and add coolant to the halfway mark of the liquid level in the expansion tank.

ATTENTION
Severe reduction in coolant level indicates a leak in the cooling system.
