Spare wheel



Cars can be equipped as a small-sized spare wheel and spare wheel, unified with the rest of the wheels of the car.

Spare wheel, unified with the rest of the car wheels
The car is equipped with a spare wheel with a tire of the same type, dimension and models that are installed on the remaining four wheels of the car. This allows the use of a spare wheel for replacing damaged wheel and the periodic rearrangement wheels.

Small-size spare tire
Of small wheel is less weight and size. SMALL wheel is intended solely for short-term use in the event of damage to the car wheel. Vehicle mileage on Small spare wheel should be limited to a small distance. Do not use small-sized wheel for long movement over long distances.
When using small-sized spare wheel stability of the vehicle may deteriorate compared to the case where the vehicle has four-wheel normal dimension. Thus, driving a car, be especially careful. To avoid damage to small-sized spare wheel or a car, take the following precautions.
- Do not exceed the speed of 80 km / h.
- Avoid crossing over obstacles on the road. Also, do not drive the mechanized car wash. Since the diameter of the small-sized wheels smaller than with the standard wheels mounted on the vehicle, the vehicle ride height reduced by about 10-25 mm.
- Do not install on a spare tire snow chain because it is not suited to this wheel.
- Do not install small-sized spare wheel on the cars of other makes and models. Small-size spare tire is only for this model car.
- In the car may be installed no more than one small-sized spare wheel at the same time.

To remove the spare wheel, remove the retaining bolt (Fig. 1.141).
To secure the spare wheel in place of its storage tighten the bolt by hand to select the play of a spare wheel.

The operations described below may be used as a replacement for the wheels and for adjustment of the wheels. In preparation for the replacement of flat tire, make sure that the selector is in the "P" ("parking") (automatic transmission) or the shift lever is in the reverse gear (manual transmission) and apply the parking brake.

Wrap a piece of cloth around the end of montazhki not to damage the surface of the cover and discs. Insert the key into the groove of the mounting wheel cover, gently press and remove the cap (Fig. 1.143).
Prepare the spare tire and tools.

Remove from the trunk spare tire, jack, jack handle, and tool bag.

To prevent movement of the vehicle when he picked up a jack, set the brake shoes (thrust pads) under the wheel located on the opposite side on the diagonal with respect to the replaced wheel (Fig. 1.144).
Before you pick up the car, you need to slightly loosen the wheel nuts.

To loosen the wheel nuts, turn the wrench handle counterclockwise. At the same time, make sure that the key head tightly encloses the wheel nuts. For most convenient lever, set the key to shown in Figure 1.145 position.
Then turn, hold the key for the end of the handle. Do not remove the wheel nuts completely at this stage. Just loosen the tightening of a half turn.

The base of the jack should be placed on a firm, flat surface. The jack should be located as shown in Figure 1.146.

Insert the wrench to tighten the wheel nuts in the jack handle, as shown in Figure 1.147.
To raise the vehicle, turn the jack handle clockwise. When a jack to raise the car begins to re-check the reliability of its system. To fit the wheel on the hub, pick it up, align the holes with the studs and slide the wheel over them. If this is difficult, tip the wheel slightly and align the top hole first with a pin. Then poshatatsya wheel to insert the studs remaining in the holes of the wheel.

Before you install the wheel into place, make sure no foreign material on the hub or wheel (mud, tar, gravel, etc.) that might interfere with the installation on the wheel hub. If they are - remove them (Fig. 1.149).
If not ensure good contact between the mating surfaces of the wheel hubs, wheel nut can come loose, which can lead to loss of wheels and loss of vehicle control.

To install the wheel cover, keeping it on the wheel, the wheel nuts on the screw thread and tighten them by hand. The nuts should be installed inside the conical part (Fig. 1.150).
Rock the wheel to make sure it is completely on the village place, and retighten the wheel nuts by hand.

Lower the car to the ground by turning the jack handle counterclockwise. Set the key in shown in Figure 1.151 and tighten the wheel nuts.
Make sure that the key head tightly encloses the wheel nuts. When tightening the wheel nuts not step foot on the wheel wrench or extend the latter by means of the pipe, as this may lead to the waist nuts.
Alternately tighten the wheel nuts. Re-check the tightness of all nuts.
After replacing the wheel as soon as possible provide specialist car to a mechanic could tighten the wheel nuts to the correct torque.

Steel wheels and aluminum alloy wheels: 90-110 kPa.
After installing the wheels, remove the valve cap and check the air pressure in the tire.
If tire pressure above the recommended, depressurize it to the desired value.
After replacing wheels always attach a flat tire in the trunk and put them in storage jack, jack handle and tools.
