Adjusting the tension of the timing belt
Raise the vehicle with the help of Jacks. Slowly turn the steering wheel first clockwise, then counterclockwise.
NOTE It should not feel significant resistance to rotation. |
Remove the water pump pulley.
Remove the spark plugs. Move cylinder piston ?��1 at TDC compression stroke provernuv crankshaft clockwise.
NOTE Never turn the crankshaft clockwise to align the mark, as this may lead to incorrect tension the timing belt. |
Loosen the screw hinge bracket and the adjusting bolt tensioner pulley (Fig. 2.11). Turn the crankshaft clockwise so that the camshaft sprocket 2 teeth turned on.
NOTE Rotation of the camshaft in a position where it does not push the cams of the rocker on the exhaust valves is needed to create the correct belt tension. |
Check that ensured the normal engagement of the timing belt with an asterisk (each tooth belt sprocket is located in the groove).

Tighten the adjustment bolt first, then tighten the bolt hinge tensioner (Fig. 2.12). Check the tension of the timing belt. Install the spark plugs. Install the upper timing belt cover. Install the water pump pulley and bracket side engine mount.
