1. To install the piston at TDC, set the gear lever in neutral, set the parking brake and block the rear wheels. To disable the ignition system, disconnect the wires from the ignition coil. Remove the spark plugs and remove the fuel system. |
Model 1997 and earlier release |
2. Note the location of the contact wire of the first spark plug on the cover of the distributor of ignition. |
3. Remove the cover from the distributor. |
4. Make a mark on the distributor where there is a contact of the first cylinder. |
| 5. Turn the crankshaft clockwise to align the notch on the crankshaft pulley with the synchronization mark. |
6. The distributor rotor should point in the direction you made the mark. |
7. If the rotor is rotated by 180 ? with respect to the label means, the piston is at TDC of the exhaust stroke. |
8. In order to move the piston in the compression stroke TDC, turn the crankshaft clockwise one full turn (360 ?). |
Models 1998 |
9. Models 1998 are equipped with the ignition, does not include a distributor. To install the piston at TDC, remove the spark plug of the first cylinder and screw in its hole pressure gauge. |
| 10. Rotate the crankshaft. When piston N1 will come nearer to TDC of the compression stroke, the meter will show the compression pressure. Continue turning the crankshaft until the slot in the crankshaft sprocket is aligned with the synchronization mark. |
All models |
11. Once you have set the piston N1 at the TDC, you can set the TDC (according to the sequence of work of cylinders) each of the remaining pistons, turning the crankshaft by 90 ?. |
