Check the brake system for leaks and damage
To check the brake system for leaks and damage the bottom of the body should be dry to be able to see the places of leaks. Brake fluid can flow and beneath the mud. Dark wet spots or black wet mud indicate possible spill area.
1. Check all connections and connections of brake system, calipers and master cylinder.

2. Inspect and touch the brake lines for damage detection. They must keep the elasticity should not be wet, frayed or cracked. Otherwise, replace them in the workshop. Hoses should not be twisted and heavily strained (Fig. 8.7). 3. The brake lines are protected against corrosion plastic sheath. If it is damaged, it may cause corrosion. Therefore, do not clean the pipes of dirt screwdriver, wire brush, or corrosive liquids. 4. Clean the pipes with a cloth and cold cleansing agent. 5. In case of damage to the protective sheath open spaces apply a primer to protect against corrosion. 6. If pipes are pinched or corroded, replace them. 7. Check the protective caps on all bleed screws. They are in the top of the brake calipers. 8. Check the pressure in the brake system as follows: Press to lock the brake pedal. 9. Even after several minutes of full load pedal should not "fall through" on, otherwise it is out of order in the master cylinder liner. 10. Gaskets does not lead to a drop in the level of brake fluid in the reservoir. But when you create a pressure fluid passes by the piston of the master cylinder without pressure. 11. Leaking piston seals in place are determined only accurate when checking in the workshop.
PRACTICAL ADVICE The brake fluid level 1. If the lining disc brake pads is a little worn, the brake fluid level begins to approach the mark "MIN"; if the new lining - level rises again. This is natural, since the worn brake linings Pistons go further out and leave the support cylinder more space, and is filled with brake fluid. Experienced mechanics use this fact to determine the state of deterioration of overlays of brake fluid level. Of course, this is possible only if the test fluid between cycles are not refilled. 2. Critical is the level of the brake fluid reservoir below a label ?MIN?. Since the fluid does not evaporate and is not consumed, there is a leak. As soon as possible we should detect it. Topping up the liquid - not eliminate the problem. 3. In case of failure in the clutch on vehicles with manual transmission fluid level may drop significantly. Reason: The actuating fluid is replenished by the brake fluid reservoir. Withdrawal from the tank to the clutch is high enough to cause leakage in the hydraulic drive could affect the operation of the braking system. |
